Term 3 in 1/2

What a busy and exciting Term 3 it has been! Our students have had a wonderful term filled with learning, new experiences and lots of opportunities to build their confidence and independence. It has been fantastic to see their enthusiasm and positive attitude across all areas of school life.

Literacy

This term, students have explored a range of poetry, narrative and non-fiction texts, including The Snail and the Whale, Walking in Gagudju Country and The Gentle Genius of Trees. These texts have provided opportunities for students to develop their reading, comprehension and writing skills while exploring a variety of interesting topics and text types.

A key focus in our writing has been developing an understanding of simple, compound and complex sentences. Students have been learning how to use different sentence structures to communicate their ideas clearly and effectively. We have also continued to work on using full stops correctly to separate ideas and make our writing easier to read.

Numeracy

In Numeracy, students have been developing their number skills through a range of hands-on and engaging activities. We have been practising skip counting by 2s, 5s and 10s and exploring arrays to help us understand equal groups and multiplication.

Students have also been learning different strategies for repeated addition and subtraction, while continuing to build their mathematical fluency. We have also explored time and calendar dates, developing important skills that students can use in everyday situations.

Humanities

Our Humanities learning has been a real highlight this term, with students particularly enjoying our study of Ötzi the Iceman. They have been fascinated by the discovery of Ötzi and have enjoyed learning about what life was like thousands of years ago.

Students have investigated the changes in life from the past to the present, comparing aspects of life long ago with the way we live today. They also created informative posters about Ötzi and his way of life, sharing the knowledge they developed throughout the unit.

Show and Share

Show and Share continues to be a highlight of our week! It has been wonderful to see students proudly sharing special items, photos and stories from their families and home lives.
