Understanding Government and How Laws Are Made.

Our students recently had the exciting opportunity to learn more about the role of government and how laws are made in Victoria through an engaging session delivered by a representative from the Victorian Parliament.

Students explored the different roles and responsibilities of government and discovered how an idea can become a law. They learned about the process of introducing, debating and passing a Bill, gaining a greater understanding of how decisions are made in our democracy.

The session provided students with a valuable opportunity to connect their classroom learning with the real world. They were encouraged to ask questions, share their ideas and develop a deeper understanding of the democratic processes that shape our community.

It was a fantastic learning experience, and our students enjoyed discovering more about how the Victorian Parliament works and how they can have a voice in our democracy.

Camp Recount – September 2nd–September 4th

Ben E

Bayview Adventure Camp, Grantville

ARRIVING AT SCHOOL

The day camp started; I made sure to get ready and remembered how to pack up my sleeping bag. Once I headed off, I said a quick goodbye to my beloved dad before going in. I left about 20 minutes early so I could chat with some of my mates since I wouldn’t see them for five days. Ten minutes later, we left to get on the bus.

THE BUS RIDE

When we got to the bus, we put away our luggage, and I made sure just to bring my trusty vomit bag since I get bus sick. I made sure to sit at the front window since, again, I’ve got bus sickness. Once we started the ride, I started getting excited since we were finally going to camp. The whole ride, I was mainly looking at where we were and how long we had left. The full ride was approximately 1 hour and 50 minutes. I was giving people updates on how far we were until we got there.

About halfway through, we had to stop since someone near me thought they were going to throw up and had to use the restroom. I saw when we were about 20 minutes away that it was a lot of farmland and animals, which gave me an idea of what this camp would be like.

When we were like 1 minute away, most people near me started cheering and cheering on the bus driver, who we called “Captain Coach”.

FINALLY ARRIVING

We finally arrived, and it was right. I thought the camp would be a farm bordered by the forest. After that long drive, and only THIS TIME, I didn’t throw up, which was nice.

But anyway, we got there, got our luggage and went to the campfire where our instructor was. Also, I forgot to mention that when we got on the bus, we got our cabin group and activity group.

My cabin group consisted of some of my friends, like Taylor, David, Josh, Charlie and John, in Cabin 4. Then, in my activity group, I got put in the Echidnas with people like Lucas, Lian, Incy, Abby, Annalena, Aarush, Josh, Eric, Mason, Owen, Herb and Michaela, with Ms Saliba, which was pretty good as well.

The instructor told everyone all the rules and expectations we had to follow. Once we had finished, we were allowed to eat our fruit snack, recess and lunch that we packed the day before. After we had finished, we were finally allowed to go into our cabin.

MY CABIN SET-UP

I went up and got my luggage and ran directly to my cabin, but we ran into a problem. For some unknown reason, our cabin was locked. We tried everything, but it wouldn’t budge, so we, of course, got a teacher so they could get a worker. It felt like an hour before a worker finally came, and my cabin group started saying thank you to the worker.

Once we got in the cabin, the beds looked pretty good. We had our own bathroom that only my cabin had to use, unlike last year, where different cabins used the same bathroom as us.

We were allowed to bring lollies into our cabin, and although I didn’t bring anything, more than half of the people in my cabin brought lollies. Then and there, we had our own stash, but we made sure not to eat inside since that was one of the rules.

Back to the beds, they were bunks, and I made sure to get a top bunk since I don’t normally have an opportunity to go on a bunk bed, so this was the experience for me.

I set up my sleeping bag and just rested since we had free time, and I had nothing else better to do. Luckily, I wasn’t alone since everyone in my cabin also decided that they wanted to chat, and we chatted until...

THE ACTIVITIES START

The activities finally started, and I was enthusiastic about them. When you look at what our schedule was, especially for Night 1, it was nice.

For the first session, we had the Amazing Race, which every group had. It’s just where every group must do a challenge and get the most points in the end. They never actually said who won, which was disappointing, but it doesn’t matter.

Anyway, back to the challenges. The first challenge we stumbled upon was that we all had to lift this bar up and down without letting go of it at all. This challenge seemed easy to me, but definitely not for everyone because it took like five tries.

Once we were finally able to do it, we stumbled across another one. This one, I remember the name. It was called “The Human Pyramid”. All we had to do was make a six-person pyramid consisting of a layer of three people, then two people, then one on the top.

We had a couple of tries but were unsuccessful. I then decided to join and go on the bottom, which was a horrible idea since I was wearing shorts this day, and we were doing it on the sand. It was so rough, so my knees were practically burning. It’s even worse when someone is kneeling above you since I was pushed into the sand.

I tried to suck up the pain and push through, but after a certain point, I couldn’t take it anymore and just went off. Fortunately for us, we were able to finish quickly after.

We headed off to our next challenge, and it was the plank walk, or the team skis, whatever you call it. If you don’t know what that is, let me give a description. It’s like two planks with ropes that you hold onto, and you must step while pulling the rope so you can move.

We had a starting and finishing line, and every person that crossed would get five points. We were able to get four people at one time, and the first four people found a strategy where they yelled, like, “RIGHT! 3-2-1, go!” and stuff like that.

The first group were able to get past the finish line smoothly and quickly. Then, a new group of four went, and I was a part of it. We used the same strategy as the first group of four since it was quick, smooth and efficient.

I reckon my group of four went even faster, and the group of four claimed, “We got it from the pros.” We were able to finish and were going to do one more group, but then we heard that we had run out of time.

ACTIVITY 2 – THE GIANT SWING

As I said, we didn’t see who won, but I didn’t think we even won, so I’m not bugged off at all. I mean, I didn’t even know how many points we had.

Next, we had probably by far my favourite activity this camp, the Giant Swing. This swing was like 18–20 metres high at the very top, which is quite tall.

Our instructor was named Patrick, and I can’t lie, he is cool to talk to, but I won’t describe much about him. He showed us our safety equipment, which was a harness that we had to tie ourselves, of course, and a helmet.

Patrick then showed us what we had to do to get strapped to the rope. We had to go and sit off a ladder, which did seem sketchy, but it worked for me.

Then everyone would have to pull a rope so we could get higher, and when you get the person of about 14 metres up, it gets HARD to pull and uses a lot of strength.

There was one person in my group that we tried and tried to get to the highest point, but unfortunately, we couldn’t.

If you didn’t know, Grantville is right next to Phillip Island, and the view was AMAZING. The giant swing swings you up, and you get a view. Unfortunately, I didn’t get that view when I went since I kept on turning, but that’s a different story.

Just before I went, I got an injury. So, I was helping to pull that massive rope while waiting, and I scraped one of my fingers on a massive, hard wooden pole to keep you steady. It didn’t hurt that much, but it just stung SO BAD.

We also got two tries to do this so I could get the maximum potential experience from it. It was finally my turn, and I went on the sketchy ladder and sat off the ladder so I could float kind of. Everyone started to push me, and I tried to get to the very top, which I think I did.

I told everyone to stop, and then I let go of the rope and went flying. When I was at the top, I kind of hesitated since it looked scary, but it wasn’t.

As soon as I let go, I got winded, but it wasn’t too bad. It was SO FUN. The only other downside was that I got an atomic wedgie on it, which did hurt, and my legs felt numb, but I had another go, and it was amazing again.

ACTIVITY 3 – RADIO RUNABOUT

Before we had our next activity, we had afternoon tea, which I just had an apple since that was enough to fill me up.

We then had our next activity, Radio Runabout, and this was my second favourite activity out of all, so today was my favourite day.

Radio Runabout is basically just answering questions around the campsite and telling our teacher the answer through a radio.

I don’t want to describe everything since this would be like 1,000 words by itself, so I’ll just say my group and group number. I was in a group of five in Group Number 3, so I got different questions to others, but there’s not much to describe since I don’t want to say all my answers.

This adventure had a lot of running to do, a lot of disagreement and a lot of mystery in the questions. This ended up being a race, and unfortunately, my group just barely missed out on first by like 1–2 minutes, sadly.

DINNER AND TRIVIA

I just want to point out that we had free time just before this, but I just stayed in my cabin and played chess. I did realise that there was a massive sunset, and I instantly ran to it.

The sunset was at Phillip Island and, again, it was AMAZING. I only enjoyed like two minutes until dinner was ready.

For dinner, they served the biggest piece of garlic bread I’ve ever seen, pasta and salad. It was definitely way more than I usually eat since, if I say so myself, I’m quite small compared to some giants in my grade.

It was indeed delicious, and they served some sort of chocolate pudding brownie, but after what I just ate, I didn’t really have an appetite for that.

Right after, I had a duty group to clean dinner, which was disgusting. There was so much food on the floor.

Right after, we had trivia, and the topics were interesting. We were in our activity groups, and our first topic was general knowledge. If I remember correctly, my group didn’t get one incorrect.

Our next topic was Australian sports. I really only knew the soccer, footy and cricket questions.

Our next topic was that we had to watch Homer Simpson and answer questions, and this was my first time even watching it, but I couldn’t answer any of these.

Our next and last topic was country flags, which was perfect since I used to study these, and so did someone else. I remember we got about two of our questions wrong, but that’s because we couldn’t just bring our best players up, which was sad.

I forgot to mention that the winning team got some wombat for their team, and my team lost and got 4th. Conveniently, the Wombats won the wombat.

After this, we went back to our cabin to go to sleep since it was like 9:00 p.m. It was at this time where I had a shower and went to bed.

MORNING 2

Today, out of anyone in my cabin, I woke up first, so I then woke everyone up to start the day. We woke up a bit early before our free time, so we just chatted ourselves out and played a bit of chess since, like, everyone in my cabin plays.

We then had free time, and I thought of just staying in my cabin, which I did do for a bit until I got bored and just went outside.

The fresh air punched my lungs as I got out. I went out and saw that some of my fellow mates were playing gaga ball.

My friends were quite competitive, and I couldn’t secure a win this time.

It was then about time for breakfast, so I went down. For breakfast, they just had the usual cereal and toast. I just had cereal with orange juice, and it wasn’t anything too special.

After we had that, I believe we had our first activity.

HIGH ROPES

I was very excited for high ropes until I realised I had to climb to get up, and that changed my whole mood about high ropes.

It’s not that I’m scared of heights; it’s that I’m not good at climbing. To make it even worse, it started raining just as I was putting my harness and helmet on.

This experience wasn’t very good for me since I spent the whole session staying under a tree without any waterproof clothing on me. I was getting bitten by mosquitoes nonstop, and right now I have like 12 bites on me.

For some reason, I was also getting targeted by them as well. Luckily, I wasn’t the only person who didn’t want to do it, so I at least had a distraction.

Our next activity was...

LOW ROPES

In low ropes, we just had to do challenges with our group to advance. Our first challenge was that we had to get all of us from one platform to the other without falling.

To get across, we had to use a Tarzan rope and try to get all of us onto the platform. If any of us fell, then we had to go back to the start.

We got about ten of our people on it, and the more people we had, the squishier it got. Although, we were allowed to pull others onto the platform.

Once I went up, I had a challenge of getting enough momentum. Our instructor gave me advice to put my foot through this hole and stand on it, which made me go onto the platform, and we got everyone through shortly after.

Before the next activity, I’m pretty sure I had morning tea, which was delicious. We had some sort of cake thing with hot chocolate. It genuinely tasted so good I wanted to tell whoever made it “gracias” to them.

We then finished and moved onto our next activity, which was...

FRISBEE GOLF (+ LUNCH)

Frisbee golf is just how it sounds. We spin our frisbee and play just like golf. We have to get it through those little nets and put down our score.

We were in groups of three or four, and I got put in a group with my other fellow Grade 5s. We had a map of where our nets were and where we would start.

It had been years since I’d thrown a frisbee, and I was pretty nervous, but I still had some skill. I seemed to be the only one in my group that actually had some experience, so I was pretty confident I would win.

We did quite a bit of nets, and then we got into an argument about where we started. The answer was obvious that I was the correct one.

We shortly finished and gave the scores to our teacher, and I did get 2nd. But I’m pretty sure the guy who got first, who “won” by one point, cheated since he went ahead and didn’t start where he was supposed to.

I am pretty sure I got first, though, so I didn’t mind.

I then went back to my cabin since I was allowed to, and I just chilled out. We next had lunch, and looking at the menu just made my mouth water. We had beef burgers with crinkle-cut chips.

Once our table was allowed to get our lunch, we practically raced down to get it, but not me. I took my first bite, and it was majestic.

Lunch was amazing today, and the vibes in the dining hall were pretty good today, as they normally were chaotic.

CANOEING + FREE TIME

After lunch, we went out to go canoeing. Our instructor gave us instructions on how to flow smoothly on the water.

I was kind of nervous since I was rusty. The last time I went canoeing was last year at camp.

We then went in the water with a partner, and I just got a random person since no one wanted to jump in the water with me.

We went in the water, and I knew my skills were definitely holding me back since I realised I wasn’t holding the paddle the right way. It didn’t take long to figure out how to properly hold it, but that wasn’t my only problem.

My partner wouldn’t listen to me. Whenever we had to turn, he wouldn’t paddle the opposite way as me, even when I told him.

After what felt like a century of asking my partner to turn, he finally did.

Our instructor asked us to come back to play a game. The game was called Animal Kingdom.

To play the game, you have to come up with an animal, and you have to get a dodgeball in another player’s canoe to get them to join your army as whatever animal you chose. To win, you have to get everyone as the same animal as you.

My team’s animal was a rhino, and we couldn’t get a single person. We got out instantly and had no chance at winning, so that’s how canoeing went for me.

We then finished, and I was going to jump in the water at the lake since we were allowed to, but my canoe was filled with water, so I was already wet and realised it would be a bad idea to jump fully clothed.

After that, I went into my cabin to have a shower. After I had a shower, some of my friends in my cabin just played games and talked ourselves out again.

DINNER + CAMPFIRE

After our free time was done, we went over to the dining hall to eat our dinner. I had a look at the menu, and it was schnitzel, roast potatoes and veggies.

This meal was fantastic, and every bite was amazing, but the only thing holding me back was the roast potatoes.

We shortly finished and were told to go back to our cabins to get our flashlights and then go to the main firepit.

One of our teachers at the camp was going to talk about stories she had when she and her family were in Kenya on safari.

The teachers were starting the campfire, and in the meantime, I was just looking up at the stars since there weren’t many lights around, so you could see many of them.

Just before starting our campfire, we all got Choc Tops, which was nice.

Once the campfire was finally set, the teacher talking about her stories, Ms Barker, started talking about her stories from her, her family and her dad’s mentor.

She started with a story from her dad’s mentor about some cheetah in their family’s house. It was kind of brutal based on what the cheetah did to some person.

We were about to go back to our cabin, which I would’ve preferred if she hadn’t said another story, since most people agreed.

I was pretty annoyed since I was so cold and just wanted to rest, but no one agreed with me.

Ms Barker said her next and last story, and I got a little bummed out since this one was about her family’s friend, and I realised there were no stories about her.

Anyway, she was talking about some random 6-tonne elephant they stumbled upon. Apparently, its baby was at the other side of some random road, as the mother and the person in the story happened to be with the baby.

The mother elephant saw red and charged at the person. It charged at her back with its tusks, and you could see from the front, apparently. Elephants normally sit on people to kill them or something, but apparently, they didn’t do that, which was lucky.

Ms Barker said that she luckily didn’t die, but I didn’t believe a single bit.

They actually put on the footy, Fremantle vs Hawthorn, and I was going to watch the first quarter, but I ended up just going to bed as I was cold, drowsy and sleepy.

I then went to bed and slept… well, at least I tried. So, I just zoned out for like six hours and didn’t sleep. I only got rest.

That was my night, but when I woke up, I wasn’t tired somehow.

THE FINAL DAY + BREAKFAST

Today was finally the last day of camp. Once I woke up, I instantly started packing up as we had to.

My cabin woke up pretty early, so we had time to talk as well. I then got dressed and just chatted again.

The teachers finally started to come and tell us to pack everything and put it outside. I finished, and my cabin couldn’t chat inside, so I just went out to play gaga ball.

Also, just to mention, I had to do nearly everyone’s sleeping bags in my cabin. It was kind of a pain since no one other than me knew how to pack a sleeping bag.

After playing for a bit, I had a duty group and started packing breakfast. This wasn’t as bad as packing up breakfast, which was nice.

After finishing, I just had the usual with cereal and an apple. They were also serving pancakes, so I knew I had to try them.

Breakfast was alright.

We then had to move our bags into some sort of bag room next to the dining hall. We then had our next activity, which was archery, but since it was cancelled for some reason, we had free time.

I would’ve spent time in my cabin, but we weren’t allowed in there, so I volunteered to help with Radio Runabout.

There wasn’t much that happened, so now we are at...

FINAL ACTIVITY – JUNIOR FARM

Our last activity was Junior Farm, and I was pretty excited. I’ve always been a fan of animals and farms, so I was excited to see what animals they had.

The activity instructor was saying that they aren’t a business farm, which is good.

We went off to see the pigs first. We felt their skin and what they eat, which was pretty cool.

After that, we went to the horses just next door, and there was a specific horse named Earnie that just had some weird connection with me.

We then went over to the sheep, and there was one specific sheep that looked like it didn’t have any wool on its head. We named it after Mr Adam but I also really wanted to name it after my dad.

We then went over to the goats and alpacas. We were scared that the alpaca would spit on us.

There was also a goat that kept on trying to ram into me. We ended up looking at these guinea fowl or something like that and a camel they had.

After that, all our activities were done, and now we would go home.

THE BUS RIDE HOME

After that, everyone who went to camp took a photo with each other and then left.

I sat in the front again and was so tired. Now I just wanted to sleep. Unfortunately, I couldn’t and just looked at the GPS tracker the whole ride, giving updates.

We then arrived, and camp was over.

This camp had a lot of highs and lows, but overall, I think this was the best camp I’ve had.

BAYVIEW CAMP: GRANTVILLE by Oliver W

Monday

2nd September

Bus Ride/Arriving at School

I walked to school with my mum today. Holding my suitcase on the way there was way easier compared to coming home, now that I look back at it. When I got to school, I dropped my bag next to my friends’ bags and started to talk to them about the lollies and the food we had brought. After my mum left, we went into the library to get our roll done and to gather all the kids. All my friends had arrived by now, and we got on the bus and got to the back of the bus, ready for a 1-hour-and-30-minute bus ride.

Arriving at Bayview

When we got there, we got our bags and got ready for an exciting, adventurous and wonderful camp, just from the look of it. Before we got to explore, we had our lunch and snack. When we had finished our lunch, we got ready for the Amazing Race.

Amazing Race

We did the Amazing Race for about twenty minutes. In the Amazing Race, we did a few activities and completed all of them, getting a total of 60 points.

One of the activities we did, and the first one, was a challenge where we had to untangle a rope. My partner and I didn’t untangle ours, meaning I didn’t get any points. Even though I didn’t score, my team got 30 points because three partnerships got their ropes untangled.

The second challenge was one where you had to lift a metal pole that was skinny. We had to lift it up and then put it back down on the ground, which we did on the second try. We were awarded 10 points, bringing our total to 40 points for now.

The final challenge was a volleyball challenge where we had to keep the ball up for 20 hits to be awarded 20 points. This brought our total up to 60 points and finished our race early because we had to go to our first activity.

Morning Tea

But before we went to our first activity, we had our morning tea supplied by the camp. The morning tea was a muffin and fruit. The fruit was apples, oranges and bananas. The muffin was a chocolate chip one and was alright, but not amazing, so I ate it anyway.

The best part was talking at the table. At my table were me, JJ, Owen, Carter, Jett, Hassan, Louis, Aarav and Josh. We talked about what we were going to do in our cabin.

Radio Runabout

After the food, we went to our first activity. My first activity was Radio Runabout. Radio Runabout was one of the most fun activities. We just got to run around and find cool facts about the camp. We got twelve of the fourteen questions correct.

Some facts were cool, some were hard and some were easy. In my opinion, the coolest fact was the name of the pony. It was one of the hardest because we didn’t know where to go, but we figured it out and got it right.

Cabin Time/Free Time

Next, we got to check into our cabin. The five people in my cabin were Carter, Jett, JJ, Owen and me. After we put away our suitcases, we went to the meeting point to go to the next activity.

My next activity was High Ropes. At the beginning, I was a tiny bit scared, but when I got up, I felt a rush of happiness, excitement and nervousness.

Next, we had a bit of time, about 45 minutes, to have showers and also have free time in our cabin or outside. For a bit of the free time, I sat in my cabin with my cabinmates. Then, I ended up going outside and playing volleyball and basketball.

One of my cabinmates left to go and help with the dinner setup, so we just went back to our cabin. In our cabin, we had a few lollies and played a few games like Marco Polo. Then we went to dinner.

Dinner/Dessert

At the dinner table, we had all our friends and got our food first after the students with dietary requirements got their food. The food on the first night was pasta bake, garlic bread and salad.

Night Time/Back at the Cabin

Back at the cabin, we had a bit of time to wait until we had lights out. Lights out was at 9:30 p.m.

After the teacher told us it was lights out, we started to have fun by doing workouts and backflips, according to Carter. But we mainly tried to be quiet so the teacher would not get suspicious and send us home.

Then, after a while, the teacher was asleep and we were not suspicious around 11:00 p.m.

Midnight Feast

After this happened, we had our midnight feast. At our midnight feast, we had gummy bears, cherry gummies and all other kinds of lollies. It was fun, though.

Then we started to talk about stuff that would stay in the cabin and would not be said outside of the cabin. So, now that we had talked about the stuff, we decided to go to bed or start to slowly fall asleep.

Then, after we all fell asleep, the night had ended. We had all fallen asleep, and all in all, the first day was a blast.

The End

Bayview 5/6 Camp (Grantville) 2026

By David Zhang

Day 1

Packing

When I started packing up for camp, I could barely contain my excitement for a new and amazing adventure to Bayview. I made sure that I had everything I needed for camp so it could go smoothly.

Going to School

It felt endless, and my patience was wearing off, but when I made it, I ran as fast as I could to get to school.

At School

Once I was at school, I first went to the deck and then tried to find my friends for the adventure. They were so excited, just like me. Then we put our luggage and bags in front of the library so that we could go inside. They did the roll, and then we went onto the bus.

Before Going onto the Bus

When we brought our luggage and bags to the bus, the bus driver put our stuff in the storage area.

On the Bus

Once we went up the stairs, I examined the inside, which was far better than a usual bus for other excursions. I took my seat next to Charlie and waited for roughly five minutes. Then the bus started to move.

The trip was 1 hour and 30 minutes to 1 hour and 45 minutes, but just two minutes felt like half a century.

Arrival

Once we arrived and got out of the bus, I took a big breath of fresh air. I took a quick look at the fun and exciting area. After I got my stuff, I placed it in front of a cabin and then took a seat on a log around an empty campfire.

One of the gentlemen explained the rules of Bayview, and then we did some activities.

The Amazing Race

The Amazing Race is when there is a list of challenges around Bayview to complete in order to collect points. My personal favourite was the ‘Human Pyramid’, where you get six people to make a human pyramid and hold it for five seconds.

Checking Our Cabins

After the Amazing Race, Taylor, Ben, Josh, Charlie, John and I took our luggage and bags and started to set up our stuff. The inside was great. We had our own bathrooms, unlike the other camps.

Once everything was set up, I used the spare time to check the people in my group for the activities in Kookaburra 3.

High Ropes

When we arrived there, the platforms for the High Ropes looked intimidating. Once we put on the safety gear, it was time to do the obstacle course.

When it was my turn, I was terrified, but when I finished and came down, it wasn’t that bad. When I did a second one that was harder, it was surprisingly fun.

Afternoon Tea

When we went into the dining area, the food was pretty good for a small snack while I chatted among my friends. Then it was time for the next activity.

Low Ropes

Low Ropes was much harder than I thought. When we had to swing on a small platform, we could barely fit.

When we did this challenge where you had to get a car tyre off a pole and then get it back on, it was extremely hard, and we couldn’t even get the tyre off.

Afternoon Tea

Free Time/Showers

We mostly chatted among ourselves, but when we took our showers, it was better than at any other camp. I was happy that we had free time to regenerate our energy.

Dinner Set-Up

When we did the set-up, I already knew that the food was going to be good because of the smell.

Dinner

The pasta was amazing. Much better than what I had at other camps. I got full almost immediately after the delicious dish.

After Dinner

We had free time after dinner. We were complimenting the food because of how delicious it was.

Trivia Night

When we did the Trivia Night, the Kookaburras sadly lost and the Wombats won, so they won the Wombat teddy. It was fun, and my group did too, but we were all tired.

Night

We brushed our teeth and got into our sleeping bags and turned off the light so we could sleep. I could not sleep, but my friends and I chatted for about two hours. Then I just had to stay there doing nothing.

Day 2

Day 2 Morning

When the others woke up, we started to get out of bed and muck around quietly. We got dressed and waited patiently for breakfast. We were so tired that I even wanted more rest after we were ready.

Breakfast

When breakfast started, I was ready for a feast. Toast, cereal and juice were pretty decent for breakfast. The breakfast gave me the energy for the next session. I chatted among my friends and got ready for Frisbee Golf.

Frisbee Golf

We didn’t do that much because it started to rain, but Taylor and I hung out in our cabin and chatted until the next session. We played chess and went to the games room. We mostly played ping pong and had fun.

Canoeing

When we did canoeing, I was already wet after putting the life jackets on. When I got into the canoe, my butt was already wet.

During the session, I fell and had to swim with the canoe back to the shore. Ethan was in the same canoe with me, and Taylor, Aarav and Jett also fell.

The water was so cold that I could not feel my feet while swimming.

Lunch

Once we took our showers to clean off everything after canoeing, we had lunch. Beef burgers and fries sounded like a delicious feast for a person who had to swim a canoe back to the shore.

It was delicious once I got it. Every bite felt amazing.

Archery/Free Time

Since archery was cancelled, we instead just hung out in our cabins. Taylor and I were inside mucking around and having fun. We played chess, hide and seek, and other games.

We also went to the games room and played even more ping pong. Somehow, we got a lot better. Then we had some rest and waited until the next session.

Afternoon Tea

Junior Farm

It was surprisingly fun. We first met the sheep and fed them. They were very adorable, and I got to feed them.

We also found horses and fed them fruit. Their hair was very soft, and I touched it many times, seeing the satisfaction on my face.

After that, we went to check out the pigs and feed them their dinner, which was porridge. Their hair was very stiff, and it felt like I was touching straw.

Then we went to see goats and alpacas, which was fun, but the floor and ground were very filthy.

Finally, we got to see the chickens in their shelter, which was also very fun, bringing me joy and laughter.

Dinner

The dinner was amazing: chicken schnitzels, gravy, cooked potatoes and toast. Dinner filled my stomach quickly and made me regenerate my energy.

My friends and I were complimenting the food, which was way too good.

Setting Up the Campfire

The Kookaburra group and I started the fire by finding leaves and branches. When the fire started, we all warmed up our hands.

When the other groups came, we sat on the logs and had ice cream. While we had ice cream, Ms Baka told us two stories, and then we had to go to our cabins.

Sleep

We first brushed our teeth and then had some fun inside our cabins. We had a lot of fun, but we were extremely tired.

We got into our sleeping bags, turned off the lights and fell asleep.

Day 3

Morning

When we all woke up, we started to pack our things early because we had to leave our cabins at 9:30 a.m. When we finished, we waited patiently until we had to leave our cabins.

Getting Our Stuff in the Bag Room

When it was time for us to grab our belongings, we placed them in the bag room. Then, after that, it was time for breakfast.

Breakfast

When we got into the dining area, I smelled the delightful smell spreading across the room. The pancakes and maple syrup were amazing, but then it was time for the next session.

Giant Swing

When we arrived at the Giant Swing, it was already intimidating to even look at. I was excited on the outside but extremely nervous on the inside.

When we got our safety gear on, we got someone to have their turn first, which was Louis. We had to pull a rope so the person taking their turn could go up while they held on tightly and went to their comfort zone.

When it was my turn, I was really nervous. When they did everything, I needed to hold on tightly to the rope so I could go to the top while everyone else had to pull.

Once I let go, I was speeding down. It felt like nothing was on me, but once it pulled me up, I felt much better.

Once it was over and I had my second turn, I was so flabbergasted. Then it was time for afternoon tea.

Afternoon Tea

Radio Runabout

When we did Radio Runabout, we didn’t do that much. Some of the people did the actual activity, but some of them just went to the games room.

We did more ping pong, some cornhole and chatted amongst each other. We ran around and tested some of the radios when people with them came into the games room.

Lunch

I was starving when we finished the Giant Swing. When we took our seats waiting for the feast, I was shocked.

There were hot dogs that were customisable with mustard, ketchup and cheese. I took a hot dog with cheese and ketchup. I shoved the food in my mouth because of how hungry I was.

After Lunch/Final Goodbyes

After the meal, I had to collect my stuff and put it back into the storage area on the bus. Once I did, we had to go to an area to say our goodbyes to Bayview, Grantville.

Going Back

Once we said our goodbyes, we got onto the bus to go back to school for home time. It felt the same as when we started our journey to Bayview: long and endless.

Once we arrived back home, I had to go to Kelly Club first and then tell my stories to my family.
