With just under two months until opening night, excitement is continuing to build for our 2026 College Production, Mary Poppins Jr.

Our talented cast and crew have been working hard in rehearsals, with each week bringing the show one step closer to the stage. Students are learning songs, perfecting choreography and bringing the much-loved characters to life as preparations continue.

One of the highlights of the production calendar is always the Holiday Rehearsals and this year is no exception. Students are looking forward to spending time together over the break, making significant progress on the show and seeing everything begin to come together.

Mary Poppins Jr. will be performed at the Cardinia Cultural Centre on Wednesday, 19th August, Thursday, 20th August and Friday, 21st August. We look forward to sharing this wonderful production with our school community and encourage families to keep an eye out for ticket information early next term.

Our talented student musicians proudly represented Pakenham Secondary College at the Battle of the Bands on Thursday, 18th June, showcasing the many hours of rehearsal and preparation they had invested in their performances.

The evening provided students with the opportunity to perform on stage in front of a live audience, gaining valuable performance experience while celebrating live music alongside students from other local secondary schools. Their confidence, teamwork, passion and musicianship were evident throughout the competition.

The College was delighted to finish third overall, while our band also received the Best Stage Presence Award for their energetic performance of Everybody Talks.

Congratulations to all of our student performers on their outstanding efforts. We also extend our sincere thanks to Ms Hawking and our Instrumental Music teachers for the encouragement and expertise they have provided in preparing students for this event. Their support, together with the dedication shown by our students, made it a memorable evening and a wonderful achievement for our College.

The performance was the culmination of many weeks of rehearsals, with students working together to learn their lines, develop their characters and bring the story to life. Their confidence and enthusiasm were clearly evident and they should all be proud of what they achieved.

Congratulations to all of the students involved on a fantastic performance and for the commitment they have shown throughout the semester. Their teamwork and entertaining character portrayals made for a hugely enjoyable performance for everyone in the audience.

On Friday, 19th June, our Year 9 Drama students travelled to the Malthouse Theatre to present their original class production as part of the Suitcase Series.

The performance explored contemporary issues through satire, with students using humour, strong characterisation, physical theatre and ensemble performance to engage their audience. It was a fantastic opportunity to perform in a professional theatre setting, share their work with students from other schools and receive valuable feedback from experienced theatre practitioners.

Following the performance, our students received outstanding feedback, with industry professionals praising the quality of their ensemble work, well-developed characters, polished delivery and confident stage presence. The positive response reflected the students' dedication, willingness to take creative risks, countless hours of rehearsal and the collaborative way they worked together throughout the project.

Congratulations to our Year 9 Drama students on representing the College so well. Their enthusiasm, commitment and professionalism made this a rewarding experience and one they should all be proud of.
