GAT Exam

The GAT (General Achievement Test) will be held on Tuesday 16 June 2026. All VCE and VM students who are completing a Unit 3 and 4 subject this year are required to sit the test. VM students will sit Section A and VCE students will sit both Sections A and B.

Students will be required to attend school for the entire day of the GAT. There will be a special lunch activity for Year 12 students during the break between Section A and Section B. VM Students will attend normal classes Period 4 and 5 in the afternoon.

Students must bring their own pens, pencils and erasers. Students must also have their own calculator (scientific only, not CAS). Dictionaries will be provided.

The GAT plays an important role in the quality assurance of VCE assessments and also provides students with an opportunity to demonstrate they meet the Victorian Literacy and Numeracy Standards.

Past study of subjects like English, Mathematics, Science and History prepares students for the GAT by building their general knowledge and skills in writing, numeracy and reasoning.
