Lights, Camera, Action - Trail

What we have been doing - Our drama students have been exploring scriptwriting, improvisation, and a variety of drama games to build stronger acting, singing, and movement skills. Recent lessons focused on writing short scenes, developing believable characters, and using physicality and voice to convey emotion.

Highlights from class:

  • Scriptwriting: Students drafted short two-character scenes and practiced stage directions, clear dialogue, and pacing.
  • Improvisation: Quick-fire improv exercises helped students think on their feet and respond truthfully in the moment.
  • Drama games: Warm-up and ensemble games improved focus, teamwork, and stage presence.
  • Music and movement: Simple choreography and vocal warm-ups supported singing and expressive movement on stage.

Looking ahead:

In Term 3 we have an excursion planned to see a live stage production. This visit will give students the opportunity to observe professional staging, actor choices, set and lighting design, and audience etiquette in a real theatre setting.
