Year 12 Personal Development Skills Excursion

The Year 12 VCE VM Personal Development Skills class recently participated in an excursion into Melbourne’s CBD, where students took part in a city walk facilitated by The Intersection. The experience encouraged students to build empathy and develop a deeper understanding of different perspectives through interactive storytelling and discussion. Students were challenged to reflect on the assumptions people can make about others, as well as how they themselves may be perceived in different social contexts.
Following this, students visited Melbourne Museum to participate in the Road to Zero program. Students explored the evolution of road safety campaigns and messaging developed by VicRoads and examined how these are used to influence public behaviour. As part of the program, students created their own multimodal road safety advertisements aimed at supporting the goal of achieving zero road deaths by 2050.
It was a valuable and engaging day that provided students with opportunities to strengthen their social awareness, critical thinking, and communication skills.
