The Duke of Edinburgh students recently completed two separate practice journey overnight camps from Warrandyte to Clifford Park as part of their preparation for the end of year qualifying expedition to the Grampians.

Throughout the camps, students worked collaboratively in teams to organise their meals and cooking groups, campsite responsibilities, packing, and navigation during the hike. The experience provided students with valuable opportunities to build independence, teamwork, resilience, and problem solving skills in an outdoor environment.

A major highlight for both groups was reaching the picturesque views overlooking Mt Lofty on the second day, rewarding students for their efforts and teamwork across the journey.

Here are a few quotes from the happy campers.

I enjoyed looking out from the top of Mt Lofty on the second day of camp. It was a very nice view

Camp was a fun and gratifying experience, forming new bonds, learning new skills, the whole camp was an adventure. We plated card games, cooked delicious meals and slept under the stars.

The camp was really fun, lots of long lasting memories were made and I learnt a lot about my friends. It was quite challenging mentally and physically but having a supportive group around you made it so much easier.

The practise camp to Warrandyte was lots of fun, the weather was great and the views were stunning.
