KIDS & TEENS AFTER SCHOOL CLAY
An after school art alternative? Saltwater is a safe, inspiring space for your kids & teens to learn the fundamentals of clay and the process of pottery - all while keeping social and exercising their creative flow .
Over eight weeks we're covering all the basics of wheel throwing, hand building, and glazing. Monday eves over an 8-week-term for youth's aged 12-17 years and wedensday's afternoons for kids aged 5-12.
Designed for complete beginners, or the experienced potter, this is the perfect way to begin your child’s ceramic journey. Guided term sessions by one of our amazing and experienced instructors.

Sustainable Living Webinar Series 2026
Gippsland residents are invited to take part in the Sustainable Living Series 2026, a free year‑long program of online webinars designed to help households cut energy costs, improve comfort, and reduce their environmental impact. Presented by independent experts from non‑profit organisation Renew, the series covers practical topics including solar, home batteries, electric vehicles, energy efficiency, sustainable design and renter‑friendly upgrades.
The first two sessions ‘Introduction to Solar’ and ‘Home Battery Storage’ have already taken place with attendees gathering at the Bairnsdale Library to enjoy the webinar together, share ideas, and ask questions over a cuppa as part of the Libraries After Dark program.
Participants can continue to attend online, or join upcoming sessions at the Bairnsdale Library.
All sessions run 7.00 PM – 8.30 PM and include Q&A with technical experts, on the following Thursday evenings:
- Winter Comfort at Home – 18 June
- Winter Comfort for Renters – 9 July
- Finding a Sustainable Team – 30 July
- Designing for Resilience – 13 August
- Sustainable Building Materials – 27 August
- Water and Greening – 10 September
- Summer Comfort at Home – 12 November
Summer Comfort for Renters – 26 November
East Gippsland Shire Council, alongside Bass Coast Shire Council, Wellington Shire Council, Latrobe City Council, and South Gippsland Shire Council, has partnered with Renew to provide free access to independent, expert advice to help create more efficient, comfortable and sustainable homes across the region. The webinars will all be recorded and can be watched back.
