A Word from Justin
Term 2, Week 10 - Friday 27th June, 2025
Dear Families and Students of OLSC
The end of the term is fast approaching! There are a couple of important things to share with all as the term nears an end.
Monday 30th June: Learning Conversations - 1:00 pm dismissal for students
Tuesday 1st July: Learning Conversations
Please book in if haven't already.
Casual Clothes Day for Vinnies Winter Appeal - Gold Coin donation.
Friday 4th July: Last day of term and 1:00 pm dismissal.
This afternoon your child's / children's Semester 1 report was sent home. You should have recieved a paper copy as well as via email. As always you'll be able to access the report on the portal. I encourge you to sit down with your child and have a look at the report together. This is a great opportunity to celebrate their achievements.
Yesterday Donna and her husband Darko welcomed their new daughter Alessia into the world. Alessia was born at 3pm on the 26/06/2025 weighing in at 3.1kg. Both mum and bub are doing well! Tired but doing well!
Alessia is the long awaited little sister for Antonia.
The team from Parish First are working with Fr Albert and the St Andrew’s Parish team in a Parish Renewal Program and all members of our Parish are invited to get involved (see attachements).
The Program is an ideal opportunity to reflect on the importance of the parish and will encourage all parishioners to “review and renew” their commitment to engagement in parish life. This is the final weekend of the Program and it concludes with the Commitment Weekend
Please join in with the Parish this weekend for the final week of the Renewel program.
On Sunday 15th June our last group of Year 4 students received the Eucharist for the first time at our Community mass. This was a great community celebration and a milestone in the faith life of Thirteen of our Yr 4 students.
This weekend was a truly special and sacred moment in their faith journey.
For the first time Community Masses have been extended to the include the 3rd Sunday of the month when it falls during the school holidays. As always our Community Mass will be at 10:00 on the third Sunday of the month. The next Mass will be on July 20th.
At the end of this term Shalome will begin her Family Leave as she and her husband Yoshi await the arrival of their first child. Her leave will commence from the beginning of Term 3. Shalome is very excited about this next step and, although we are very happy for her, she will be missed by us all while on leave. My understanding is that Shalome and Yoshi have not ruled out the name 'Justin' for the baby.
The parish prayer for the new church is below. Please feel free to include this in your family prayers as a new church for the Manor Lakes community would be a great feature of our parish.
One of our parents has celebrated a huge achievement this week after a long journey and plenty of hard and gruelling training. Maria Lewis (mother of Jaxon and Bodhi) completed her training for the Fire Brigade and graduated ths week. After all the hard work, sweat, and dedication, you’ve officially made it.
Maria's commitment to the training, both mentally and physically, has paid off, and I reckon she has earned every right to celebrate.
On behalf of all of us, we wish you safety, camaraderie, and success in your journey ahead in this role. I am sure Shaun, Jaxon and Bodhi are very proud of a great effort.
If anyone in your family has an achievement that could be shared in the newsletter and is worthy of celebration and acknowledgement, please email Justin to be included in the next newsletter.
