Year 11 Report

The Year 11s started off Term 3 with an incursion that focused on road safety and responsibility – Road Smart Interactive. This was a highly engaging session which encouraged students to think about their road usage on many different levels, and it was great to see them enjoying the various activities on offer, including the use of VR.

Our Unit 2 Outdoor Education class spent three days last month at Mt. Buller learning and practicing their skiing and snowboarding skills.  A huge thanks to Ms. Stokkel and volunteers Ava and Ben for supporting our Year 11s through this exciting activity and for ensuring that everyone came back happy and in one piece!

The Year 11 VM students are currently working on their $20 Boss market stall project for Unit 2 Work Related Skills, having pitched their ideas to a panel of staff this week.  We are looking forward to attending their market stalls on Thursday, the 3rd of September – this is always a great community day for the whole school to engage with, and it usually features some creative and tasty treats to purchase.

As we hit the middle of Semester 2, both our VCE and VM students will be undergoing a higher number of assessments. We appreciate any support that you can give from home to help your child to have space and time to study to be prepared for these, as well as any conversations that you have with them about their learning and goals.  We acknowledge that this time of year can be stressful for some students and urge you to contact us if your child needs additional support. We also appreciate families supporting our attendance policy and obtaining medical certificates to approve any absences that occur.

While busy, this term is also exciting as we ask our Year 11 students to begin to look towards Year 12 in 2027.  All students have been having conversations with their mentor teachers about their pathways and Year 12 program for 2027, with our VCE students having made their subject selections and our VM students confirming their VET courses.  Students have also had the opportunity to try on samples of the Year 12 uniform so it can be ordered in time for rollover.  A reminder that orders for this close strictly on Sunday, 6th September.  Students can access the order link via Teams.

This week in assembly, we have heard about Year 12 student leadership opportunities in 2027, and it has been great to see so many of our students stepping up, showing an interest in these important roles.  In assembly, we also had the privilege of handing out awards to students who were nominated by their classroom teachers for continuing to show our school values of respect, connection, and growth.  It is a pleasure to witness our Year 11s transforming into responsible and respectful young people, and I thank all families for their ongoing support from home with their child’s education.
