Year 10 Report
Year 10 have made a great start to Term 3 with the focus on securing senior pathways and setting goals to make Semester Two a time for learning, growth, and engagement.
Our Course Selection interviews were well attended, and it was fantastic to speak to students and families about their future aspirations and how KWRSC can support them to achieve these. Our hard-working Careers practitioners are continuing interviews and counselling for students to enroll in VET courses, SBAT arrangements, and extension/acceleration programs to provide individualised, vocational education.
Students will have further opportunities to explore TAFE and tertiary options with upcoming experience days at Federation University and Holmesglen. Our Accelerated English class will also be participating in workshops at the State Library of Victoria to improve their reading, research, and creative writing skills.
The Vocational Pathways Program is continuing to develop employability skills for students and foster connections with the community. Their next period of Work Experience will be in Week 8, and the arrangement forms are due to be returned next week.
Students have settled well into their Semester 2 classes with some new offerings, such as Psychology and Media alongside favourites like Outdoor Education, Art and Technology subjects.
Our intermediate sport teams have also enjoyed a successful start to the term, with students representing the school in a variety of inter-school sport competitions.
Many Year 10 students are preparing for the performances of Matilda the musical at the end of this month and should be congratulated for the teamwork and camaraderie shown at rehearsals and their commitment to attending after school and on weekends to make the show a success.
We are continuing to focus on respectful behaviours in school this term and would like to remind families to ensure that students are prepared for learning with all required equipment for class. Please ensure that students have access to any textbooks or stationery purchased from the booklist that were not required until Semester 2 and that they have replenished any items that were depleted in Semester 1. If you are unsure of what is required, feel free to contact classroom teachers via email to enquire. Similarly, as colder weather sets in, please refer to our uniform guide for ways to keep warm without wearing additional non-uniform items to school.
