Prep

We were very lucky to have some special visitors come in on the 2nd September to celebrate Father’s Day and even a visit from a pet lamb! We know the kids loved having their family come in and hopefully you all felt the same way! Thanks for your support!  

Literacy

In Literacy, we have been learning about the ch, sh and ng sounds. Students have been building words and manipulating sounds to build new words. It has been wonderful to see students using these new sounds in their writing. We are continuing to read our decodable books and practicing our fluency by reading them over and over again. We are very proud of all of our learners and their positive attitude towards trying new things. 

We have been writing about personal memories and learning how to stretch out our writing, by adding in lots of details in. We broke the memories into 4 different parts - packing, travelling, the destination and traveling home again. You can read some of these below. 

In Literacy, we enjoyed exploring and responding to different picture story books during book week. We selected 5 different short-listed books - Derek, Frogs, My Nonno Loves, Colours of Home and Emperor’s Egg. We enjoyed dressing up as some of our favourite characters from books and reflecting on why we choose these characters. The students were brilliant at being Wally Watchers and managed to find all 20 hidden Wally's around the school.

Numeracy 

In Numeracy, we have been practicing our subtraction skills. Students have been using lots of different strategies to solve number sentences, such as counters, number lines and fingers. We have explored money and understanding what we use money for and students created their own shops where they got to pretend to be shop assistance and customers. 

Humanities
