SPECIALIST FEATURE NEWS
你 好 (ni hao) Welcome to our Specialists’ corner!
Welcome back to Term 4! The students have had a fabulous start to the term and settled well back into established routines across the Specialist classes. In Performing Arts, we are heading into performance time. Students will demonstrate their music theory and practical application by presenting musical pieces on the selected instrument for each level.
All students from Foundation to Grade Six will perform with peers in the coming fortnight - their enthusiastic progress in instrumental learning has been a pleasure to be a part of and is definitely one of my favourite parts of being a Performing Arts teacher 🥰 I am so proud of everyone for their determination and resilience in mastering new musical skills!
Each level will be completing a mini project across the rest of the term , which will have elements of dance , drama , music or even all three for our senior students. There will be storytelling, comedy skits and product commercials - this is a wonderfully creative unit, and I am looking forward to seeing what our performing artists come up with!
Next week, we celebrate the Festival of the Arts on Wednesday the 14th of October. This is a wonderful opportunity for the students to showcase their visual artwork and instrumental skills; families can expect to see lots of colourful creations, intricate handiwork, imaginative pieces and successful collaboration as we put on display their work in The Arts.
Included below is a link to the festival's website, which includes a map and schedule for the evening. Whether you come for the art, the music or simply to enjoy some of the delicious treats on offer, it will no doubt be a wonderful night for our community to share and celebrate together!
A special shout-out to our fabulous Visual Art teacher Sam, who has put in endless hours behind the scenes collating, organising and preparing artworks for display from every student. This is a huge undertaking, and we are so appreciative of everything that Sam has done to prepare for this special whole school event.
Another event to mark in your calendars is our Christmas Concert on Wednesday the 2nd of December. Students will be learning Christmas songs and dances as part of their Performing Arts program, bringing song, movement and performance elements together for another joyous whole-school event.
