LOTE

Prep

Over the past two weeks, Prep students have continued learning colours and numbers in Indonesian, and are becoming increasingly confident identifying and using this vocabulary.

Years 1 & 2

Students in Years 1 and 2 have explored a story about emotions, using familiar Indonesian words, clues from the text, and illustrations to help work out the meaning. The junior school students have also been learning about Indonesian folktales, including the well-known story of 'Lake Toba'.

Years 3 & 4

Years 3 and 4 have continued their learning about time, including the four Indonesian times of day, telling the hour, and analogue half-hour times. Students discovered that telling half past the hour can be tricky, as Indonesian uses the idea of being “halfway to” the next hour, rather than “half past” the current hour.

Years 5 & 6

In Years 5 and 6, students have been learning cardinal and ordinal directions, following instructions, and expanding their knowledge of Indonesia’s diverse islands and regions.

Performing Arts

Production preparations are in full swing as students continue rehearsing for Disney's Alice in Wonderland Jr.! It has been wonderful to see students developing their confidence, teamwork, and performance skills as they bring the characters and scenes to life.

Our Year 5 and 6 students are continuing to work hard learning lines, developing characterisation, refining stage movement, and rehearsing choreography. Across the school, students are becoming increasingly confident with their songs, dances, and staging as we move closer to performance dates.

Over the coming fortnight, we will begin combining more classes together for rehearsals so students can practise with their full cast groups. This is an exciting step in the rehearsal process and helps students understand how their role contributes to the overall production.

A reminder for families to continue supporting students with any lines, songs, or rehearsal requirements at home. Every little bit of practice helps build confidence on stage.

Thank you to our staff, volunteers, and families for your ongoing support. The excitement around the school is growing, and we cannot wait to share our production with the Yarra Road community.

As always, please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns regarding the production.
