Our Literacy sessions have continued to focus on systematic phonic sessions through the UFLI Program. We have also been working on guided reading sessions with some of our wonderful parent helpers. During Writing sessions, students have been looking at writing procedural texts. We looked at writing step by step instructions for household tasks, such as making sandwiches or cleaning our teeth. We are about to start writing instructions to share some of our fantastic and diverse skills.

In Maths lessons, students have been learning about time. They have been learning about describing duration in various scenarios, using seconds, minutes, hours, and days. They have learnt about telling time on an analogue clock, practising o’clock and half past. Year 2 students have been learning about quarter to and quarter past. Students have been continuing their learning about addition and subtraction through revising the part-part-whole strategy.

As part of National Reconciliation Week for Integrated Studies, students explored the importance of reconciliation, respect, and caring for Country. Through stories, discussions, and outdoor learning activities, they learned about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' connection to Country, and reflected on ways they can help care for the environment and build a kind and inclusive community.

In Wellbeing, students learned about healthy eating and the five food groups. They explored the importance of making healthy food choices, sorted foods into categories, and created their own healthy plates. Students also learned about positive self-talk, identifying ways to turn negative thoughts into encouraging and confident ones.
