Saints Unplugged

Saints Unplugged Junior and Senior returned earlier this month. Audiences were treated to some fantastic performances from our talented students over two epic evenings. Our senior Hospitality students provided scrumptious meals and treats for the very appreciative audiences.

These concerts showcased the culmination of a term and a half of hard work in music lessons and ensemble rehearsals. Thank you to all involved in two very successful evenings.

QREP

QREP, hosted by CQUniversity, took place at Saints over the weekend of 30–31May. Students from across the region worked with lecturers from the CQU Conservatorium, alongside musicians from 1RAR Townsville.

The weekend featured two days of workshops, rehearsals and lectures, culminating in a concert on the Sunday afternoon. The lectures were super informative with one about what you can do at CQU in a music degree as well as a talk by the 1RAR musicians about a music career in the ADF or in the reserves. Students came away with a great experience in terms of collaboration, performance and what opportunities lie ahead for them in the field of music. Parents were treated to a quality performance by our students and the professional musicians they worked with through the weekend.

Saints is so grateful to be able to provide these opportunities for our students and those in the region around us. Thank you to all involved.

Eisteddfod showcase and Cairns junior eisteddfod performances

On Thursday evening, members of all our eisteddfod ensembles performed in Lennon Hall as a warm-up performance for their eisteddfod performances in a couple of weeks. It was an excellent opportunity for parents who can’t be present to hear the students perform as well as directors and students to gain an understanding of what polishing needs to be done in the last couple of rehearsals.

We encourage as many parents as possible to come to CPAC to see their children perform over the two days. It is t culmination of two terms' work and we look forward to presenting it as well as listening to the other groups in our sections.

Our program is busy and vibrant with many opportunities for performances. We entertain at assemblies, perform in productions and music nights as well as provide liturgical music for the College. Our students have many performance opportunities.
