Grade 5/6 Mass

This week, we gathered with the parish community to celebrate Mass, taking time to pray, reflect, and grow together in faith. I am always so proud of the respectful and reverent way our Grade 5/6 students participate, and these celebrations provide a wonderful opportunity to strengthen our sense of community and remind us of the values we strive to live each day. We always enjoy Father Michael's homilies too!

Literacy - The Grandest Bookshop in the World

We have been thoroughly enjoying our novel study of The Grandest Bookshop in the World. Along the way, we've been putting our own problem-solving skills to the test by trying to solve the book's riddles and puzzles before the Cole children do! The excitement continues next week, as we look forward to welcoming the author, Amelia Mellor, to our school on Monday the 10th of August. Students will have the wonderful opportunity to hear about the inspiration behind this magical story and the writing process. Though we'll certainly be asking Amelia to spare us any spoilers!

Numeracy - Measurement & Financial Maths

In Numeracy, we have been exploring measurement, developing understanding of length, mass, and capacity through a range of practical, hands-on activities (with surprisingly little spillage!). Next, we will begin our financial mathematics unit, where students will investigate discounts, sales, and budgeting. This learning links perfectly with our Paradise Island Business and Economics unit, allowing students to apply their mathematical skills in meaningful, real-world contexts.

100 Days of Prep (Buddy Edition)

To celebrate 100 Days of Prep, our Grade 6 students helped create a fun obstacle course for the Prep students to enjoy. It was wonderful to see our senior students taking on a leadership role, encouraging the Preps and helping them move safely through each activity. The Prep students had a fantastic time, and it was a lovely example of our older students showing care, patience and school spirit.
