PLC Blue Adventures !

Welcome to Term 3! What a wonderful start it has been. Blue PLC has hit the ground running. Here is a little snapshot of all the exciting things we have been getting up to.
🏊 Swimming Program
What a highlight! Students have been making a splash in our school swimming program this term, and the progress has been truly amazing to watch. From kicking and floating to building real independence in the water, every student has been giving it their all. We couldn't be prouder of their effort, bravery, and enthusiasm!
📖 English
This term we have fallen in love with our new mentor text, Big Rain Coming by Katrina Germein, a beautiful Australian story about a community patiently waiting for the rain to arrive. Each week we explore a new background knowledge theme through hands-on experiences, discover new vocabulary, and write words and sentences using Colourful Semantics. We also bring the story to life with a craft each week and highlights include a sun made from paper plates, a rain shaker, handprint frogs, and a massive rain splash mural!
In phonics, students are loving our Little Learners Love Literacy program where new letter sounds are introduced each week through songs, hands-on activities, and daily practice. Each character in Milo's Birthday Surprise brings a brand new sound to life, with heart words woven into our reading and writing every day.
🔢 Mathematics
In Maths we are exploring Number and Space. Students are continuing to build their number and counting skills, working on counting and number recognition, adding one more, taking one away, and counting on and back using ten frames, number lines, and counters. In Space we are exploring 2D shapes, learning to recognise and name them in the world around us. Students have been sorting shapes, building with them, and discovering that shapes are absolutely everywhere once you start looking!
💛 Health
Health this term is all about our wonderful bodies! We have been naming body parts, learning about body safety, and exploring our five senses. We are also discovering how our bodies change and grow from babies right through to adults, and building really important life skills around identifying problems and knowing when and how to ask for help.
🔬 Science
This term students have well and truly put on their scientist hats and they are loving it! We have been observing, predicting, testing, and discovering through hands-on investigations. Highlights include a hard and soft squashing investigation, a colour mixing experiment with paint, and a truly spectacular milk and dishwashing liquid colour explosion. Keep an eye on Seesaw, the results have to be seen to be believed!
We are so proud of every single student in PLC Blue. They bring so much joy, curiosity, and energy to everything they do. We cannot wait to see what the rest of the term has in store.
