NDIS Navigator

NDIS Navigator Support Available to Families

Navigating the NDIS can sometimes feel overwhelming, particularly as children and young people’s needs change and the NDIS continues to evolve. As your school’s NDIS Navigator, I am available to support families to better understand the NDIS and make the most of the supports available in their child’s plan.

How can the NDIS Navigator help?

I can provide information, guidance and practical support around a range of NDIS-related matters, including:

Understanding changes to the NDIS

The NDIS continues to change, and it can be difficult to understand what new changes mean for your family. I can help explain changes to NDIS processes, funding and supports, and how these may affect your child.

Understanding and using your child’s NDIS plan

I can help families understand their child’s plan, including the different support categories, what funding can be used for, and how to make informed decisions about using their child’s supports. We can also look at whether the current plan is meeting your child’s disability-related needs.

Connecting with local providers and services

Finding suitable providers can be challenging, particularly when your child requires specialist or disability-specific supports. I can provide information about local providers and services that may be relevant to your family, including therapy, community participation, respite, support workers and post-school options.

Please note that the school does not endorse or recommend individual NDIS providers. Information about providers is provided as a resource to help families explore available options and make their own informed choices.

Letters of support and supporting evidence

I can assist families to understand what evidence may be helpful when requesting a plan review, change of circumstances or other NDIS decision. Where appropriate, I can also work with families and school staff to identify information that may be relevant to a letter of support or other supporting documentation.

Preparing for plan reviews and changes

If your child’s needs have changed, or their current supports are no longer meeting their needs, I can help you understand the options available and prepare for conversations with the NDIA, LAC or other members of your child’s support team.

Getting support early can make a difference

If you are unsure about your child’s NDIS plan, have received communication from the NDIA that you do not understand, are looking for suitable local supports, or simply want to talk through your options, please reach out.

The NDIS Navigator role is here to help families understand the NDIS, build confidence in navigating the system and connect with information and supports that may be available to their child.
