Yellow PLC Update

Term 3 has been full of learning, exploration, fun, and lots of hands-on experiences in Yellow PLC! It has been wonderful to see our students settle into their routines, grow in confidence, and become more comfortable and engaged in their learning.

This term, our Preps celebrated 101 Days of Prep by dressing up as Dalmatians and enjoying some very special activities together. Our PLC also joined in Pyjama Day, and it was so lovely to see our students arrive in their cosy pyjamas ready for a fun day of learning and connection. These special days have created some wonderful memories and opportunities for our students to celebrate how far they have come!

English

This term, we have been enjoying our mentor text, We’re Going on a Bear Hunt. Students have been exploring the story through sensory experiences, shared reading, and hands-on activities. We are building our understanding of story structure by exploring characters, settings, events, and the familiar repeated language throughout the story. It has been wonderful to see students becoming engaged with the story in their own unique ways.

Maths

In Maths, we have been focusing on number through sensory exploration and hands-on learning. Students have been given lots of opportunities to explore numbers, interact with different materials, and develop their understanding through play and practical experiences. These activities are helping students build early number knowledge in fun and meaningful ways.

Science

This term, Science has replaced History, and we have been exploring chemical reactions! Students have been enjoying hands-on investigations where they can see what happens when different materials are combined. Through these experiences, they are developing their curiosity, observing changes, exploring cause and effect, and beginning to think like young scientists.

Health & Personal Development

In Health, our focus has been on emotions and facial expressions. Students have been learning to recognise and explore different emotions and noticing how feelings can be communicated through our faces and bodies. Through stories, play, sensory experiences, and conversations, students are developing their understanding of their own emotions and the feelings of others.

Play to Learn

Our Play to Learn program continues to provide wonderful opportunities for students to connect with their classmates and buddy classrooms. Through structured play experiences, students are developing their communication, social skills, collaboration, confidence, and ability to engage with others. It has been lovely to see these relationships continue to grow throughout the term.
