It has been an eventful fortnight between our NAPLAN Assessments, CORE Subject Assessments and the Teachers Strike. However, as always, this Year 9 cohort never ceases to amaze me. We had the highest completion rate of NAPLAN assessments ever at this campus, which is a testament to the character and focus on education that this group has. I also had the pleasure of attending the Community Harmony Day Event at Goldsworthy where I saw many of our students attending and volunteering.
This group is something special.

Student Reflections on Term 1

For the last few days we have been at camp. I have enjoyed many things like the Giant Swing, Rock Climbing and The Leap of Faith. The staff were so enthusiastic and caring for the students.
The food has been amazing, having big meals and dessert every day has been great . Especially the chocolate brownies.
I’ll never forget being pulled up the Giant Swing by my group members and having to pull the rip cord myself to fall for what seemed like forever.
Thank you so much to all of the students and teachers, I have made heaps of new friends and really hope this isnt our last camp.

We’re almost at the end of Term 1, and it has felt like a massive start to the year. As someone who's finished the NAPLAN tests, I can say that even though they were somewhat challenging, I know they were designed to test my skills in literacy and numeracy. They help me understand how I’m progressing and which areas I can improve in.
At the same time, interschool sports let us represent our school in sports that we love, whether it’s volleyball, tennis, or softball. I participated in both softball and volleyball. The softball team won their competition and will be proceeding further! Competing against other schools has been exciting and fun, helping us build teamwork and school spirit. Overall, it’s been a busy but rewarding start to the year, and I’m proud of what we’ve achieved so far.
