Wellbeing & Inclusion

April 2026

What is a Student Support Group (SSG)?

A Student Support Group (SSG) meeting brings together the school, parents/carers and the student to work in partnership. The group works together to identify the student’s learning and wellbeing needs and uses this information to develop goals and reasonable adjustments to ensure the student can experience success and growth in the school setting. These goals and adjustments are recorded in the student’s Individual Education Plan (IEP).

Schools are mandated to provide an IEP for all students who may receive funding for additional needs, are in Out of Home Care, or identify as First Nations. Northern Bay P–12 College has developed an SSG schedule that ensures IEPs are reviewed regularly for every student and that opportunities for SSGs are prioritised and distributed fairly.

"This is my chart. I get ticks when I follow the schedule then I get to do something special. I want to get better at doing good letters and good spelling and trying my best to follow the schedule."

Ollie’s Goal:

By the end of Term 1, 2026, Ollie will consistently use supported strategies to regulate within the school grounds, and will remain at school 5 days a week, until 12:30pm, achieving this goal 90% of the time.

From Ollie: “I have a First and Then timetable and a choice board to help me stay focussed at school for longer. When I do great learning I get stickers on y reward chart.”
