Favourite memory from your time at Koonung Secondary College?
Amber notes her favourite memories was of the fantastic sense of community during her time at Koonung, and she loved being participating in interschool sports.
What does your job entail?
As a People & Culture Business Partner, Amber collaborates with the organisation’s management and employees to enhance workplace culture, employee engagement, and overall effectiveness. She supports employees through their lifecycle at Bendigo Kangan Institute (BKI) and supporting managers with maintaining the best culture for their teams.
What do you enjoy about your role as a People & Culture Business Partner?
Amber thoroughly enjoys problem-solving any challenges that her role attracts and the opportunity to engage with a variety of different people.
What is a professional highlight of your career, either where you currently work or in the past?
Amber has identified that one of the projects she is currently working on is a highlight. She is currently implementing an induction program for all new employees. Its success will be very rewarding.
What advice do you have for Koonung students wanting to work in a similar role / industry?
Amber’s advice for those wanting to pursue a similar career is to “ask questions, and search for courses/training that can assist your development. Be curious and don't be afraid to challenge people when having conversations.”
What advice would you give to your Year 12 self?
Amber’s message she would give to her Year 12 self is “Life has a funny way of working out. Even though you didn't know what career you wanted to have during year 12 you have achieved amazing things in your career and you end up exactly where you're meant to.”
