It has been a long time coming..........out with the old daggy shelving, in with the new, sleek dark design shelving which makes the books pop. OUR amazing collection of non-fiction and fiction books deserve the best and book borrowing has increased already! Speaking of deserving the best, new tables and chairs have been incorporated into the space giving more definition to the teaching space vs study space. This fabulous library refurbishment is made possible due to the generous (tax deductible) donations made to the school library by families - thank you!
A huge shout out to the Facilities Manager and team for all the hard work of many days to get the job done. Also....congratulations to myself for this enormous 'ongoing' task!
Before - last look at the 1970s looking tables, the very old shelving and uninteresting layout!
During - chaos reigns supreme. Dismantling and the rebuilding of furniture begins.
After - snazzy new tables, super comfy new chairs, sleek dark grey shelving and a whole lot of sorting out, deciding final layout, more shelving to come....basically watch this space. The students love the new tables and chairs, the individual leaving space that the tables create are a huge hit!
Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros is a hit with students across all year levels. Who doesn't love a grumpy dragon who has a teenage dragon to look after as well as save the world with their rider. Kristina, one of my fabulous library monitors in Year 11 had the pleasure of meeting the author, getting a signed copy of her book and finding out the origin of the main dragon Tairn (watch the clip on instagram)
This term students had the opportunity to enter a competition to win a Booktopia voucher.
Many entries made it to the display board in the foyer and I appreciate the time it takes to write them. Congratulations to all those who entered. The winner was decided by Mr Day-Smith who was torn between quite a few entries as they were that good! Congratulations to Gisele in 7A for her winning entry and second place went to Shani in 8H.
The most popular non-fiction book of Term 2 was.........it is as delicious as it looks !
