VET News

Our Year 10 students recently took part in a Nursing & Medic Career Taster Workshop, giving them a hands-on look into the fast-paced world of healthcare.

Throughout the day, students explored what it is like to care for patients in hospital, clinic and emergency settings. They practised basic patient care, learned about monitoring vital signs, and took part in emergency response activities led by experienced trainers.

The workshop also gave students the chance to ask questions and learn more about possible pathways into nursing, paramedicine and other healthcare careers.

It was a fantastic opportunity for our students to build confidence, try practical skills and gain insight into rewarding careers in the health industry.

VET Spotlight:

Congratulations to the following students who have been offered a place on Health Science Hub’s supervised Sri Lanka international program at the end of this year in partnership with Plan My Gap Year.

Back in January, HSH opened an application process for students who wanted to be considered for the Sri Lanka trip. This two week supervised international experience is designed to support students to apply their learning in real-world settings, build employability skills, and develop cultural awareness, while completing a structured qualification outcome alongside the trip.
