From the Principal

In the Catholic tradition, retreat is about renewal. It is a deliberate pause, a time set aside to reflect, reconnect, and listen more deeply to God and to one another. Jesus himself modelled this, stepping away from the crowds to pray and discern. In our busy lives, these moments of stillness are both rare and essential.
This spirit was lived out during the Year 10 Retreat, which happened this week. Students embraced the opportunity to step away from routine and reflect on identity, relationships, and purpose. While such experiences can be challenging, they are also deeply formative, fostering growth in self-awareness, empathy, and faith.
Next week, our Year 9 students will participate in their retreat. We hope this will be a meaningful opportunity for them to build connections, reflect on their values, and grow as individuals within our community.
Similarly, the Leadership Team took part in our planning day this week. Once each term, we intentionally step back from the day-to-day busyness to reflect on our College Catholic School Improvement Plan, ensuring our direction remains purposeful and aligned.
We carry this same spirit of reflection into National Reconciliation Week next week. As a nation, and as a College community, it is a time to pause, reflect on our shared history, and commit to a more just and reconciled future. Among a range of activities, Lumen will mark the occasion with a Sorry Day Flag Raising and Morning Tea.
Across all these moments, retreat reminds us that growth begins with reflection, and renewal strengthens our shared journey forward. God bless.
