MCC help out for Carevan

In the lead-up to Carevan, Mrs. Lole had organised a roster for the staff and students from the Community Action Team to help prepare and cook nutritional meals to be delivered and served in different locations in Griffith and the Griffith Community Centre. Matt Gatt our very own MCC Chef had coordinated the preparations of these nutritional meals of Fried Rice. Janice Sartor the coordinator of Carevan Griffith reached out to our TAS Coordinator Mrs Shannon in seeking our support and together as a team we were able to make this service happen.

Wednesday 26 March was a big day as we cooked a lot more than expected, as Janice from the Griffith Community Centre, mentioned they are averaging 200 meals every week.

This year Mr Abadala and Mrs Lole received a big interest from students in years 7 to 11 to join the community action team and they came to help with such big hearts, a can do attitude, and great energy.

With the meals that Marian Catholic College cooked, served 190 meals to families in need, and an additional 20 meals are kept frozen for families who can pick up from the Griffith Community Centre.

We are not only passing on a vision for care and compassion, but we are caring with no judgment reaching out to cultures, generations, and socioeconomic backgrounds, and creating a sense of belonging around the dinner table.
