Assistant Principal News

We had a fantastic two days this week meeting Year 6 students from our feeder Schools St Mary’s Yoogali, St Patrick’s Primary Griffith as well as a number of the public schools across Griffith. The students were extremely enthusiastic and engaged with our Transition lessons with gusto. In Maths they got to  undertake an escape room experience, moving from one level to the next to win a prize and in Creative Arts they got to demonstrate their artistic flair, Experience singing and composing in Music and playing fun filled bonding games in Drama.

It was lovely to see them bonding as a combined group as they started to create new friendships. It was also pleasing to see them becoming comfortable with our College staff, surroundings and expectations. Our Transition program is essential in assisting Year 6 students to step into High School in a controlled and stress free manner and this was clearly evident during their time with us.

My thanks go to Mr Webb, Mr Symms, Mr Morris, Ms Star, Mr Kulkarn, Mrs Aventi, Mr Segrave, Miss Taylor, Miss Jarvis, Mrs Dickie, Miss Carlile and Mrs Blanco for welcoming the Year 6’s and sharing their subject passion and expertise with them.

We are already looking forward to seeing all of the Year 6 students again next term, for Transition session number 2!

Yours in Learning,

Mrs Lora Segrave
