Tree Planting Day

Supported by Stockyard Hill Wind Farm, the Victorian Schools Garden Program, and Avalon Nursery

Thank you!

A huge thanks to the following people or organisations who helped make our National Tree Day event happen:

  • Stockyard Hill Wind Farm, who provided a significant grant to allow us to purchase enough plants so every student was able to plant at least one. Thanks also to Michelle, Jon and Steve from the wind farm who came out to help with the afternoon (and apparently are feeling a bit sore after digging so many holes for us). They've also provided us with some baseball caps, which will be raffled off by the end of the week, and some model wind turbines.
  • Victorian Schools Garden Program and the Department of Education, who provided a School Maintenance Grant, which allowed us to purchase some of the plants for the event.
  • Avalon Nursery, who provided a free garden consultation so we'd know which plants would work best and gave us a significant discount off our purchase.
  • Beaufort Secondary College, who let us "borrow" some students for the afternoon to help out.
  • Mr Wright and Mr Reid, who put together the new garden beds for the base of some of our trees.
  • All of the parent helpers who came along for the afternoon.
  • Mrs Rush, who "embraces" some of Mr Shuttleworth's big ideas.
  • All of the staff and students who worked together to get a whopping 170 plants in the ground in less than an hour.

Luckily, we had a dry afternoon to get everything planted, before a very wet day today to water the plants for us. Hopefully we'll have a bright, colourful schoolyard once spring hits next month.
