Student Representative Council (SRC)
Christmas is a time of joy, love, and togetherness, but for some families, the season brings little reason to celebrate. Struggling to meet basic needs, they face challenges such as financial hardship, homelessness, or food insecurity, leaving little room for festive traditions. While others exchange gifts and share special meals, these families may be focused on simply surviving day to day. This contrast can make the season especially difficult, highlighting their struggles during a time meant for happiness. By extending kindness and support, we can help ensure that every family feels the warmth and spirit of Christmas, despite their challenges.
SRC students organised a worthwhile fundraiser by collecting non-perishable foods for those experiencing hardship for various reasons, such as mental or physical illness, unemployment, or financial crises. On Tuesday, 26 November, Year 7 SRC members delivered all donations to the Greek Welfare Centre of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese. Students had the opportunity to visit the centre and learn about the different successful initiatives organised by the organisation.
We would like to thank all students and their families for contributing to and supporting this fundraiser.
We are also pleased to share that artwork by Year 11 students Mikayla Haralambakis and Peter Papastamatopoulos, from this year's Technē Arts Exhibition, raised a combined total of $1500! All funds were donated to the Greek Welfare Centre Christmas Appeal. A huge thank you to everyone who contributed and to both Mikayla and Peter for their incredible display of talent.
