Participating in Greek language-related activities is important for students of both Greek and non-Greek backgrounds, as it fosters cultural appreciation, unity, and learning.  For students with Greek heritage, these activities deepen their connection to their roots, reinforcing their identity and preserving their linguistic and cultural heritage.  For those from non-Greek backgrounds, engaging in such activities promotes inclusivity and broadens their understanding of Greece’s rich history and traditions.

Students for one more year have the opportunity to participate in the drawing competition “Christmas all around!” organised by the ANTENNA Pacific.  This competition offers students a creative platform to celebrate the festive season. By showcasing their artistic talents, students explore the joy and meaning of Christmas through vibrant designs and imaginative expression.  The works of art from all the participants will be presented through shows specially dedicated to the contest and will be featured on the holiday schedule of ANTENNA Chanel in different countries.

Selected students participated in the Certificate of Attainment in Greek.  The Certificate of Attainment in Greek (Πιστοποιητικό Ελληνομάθειας) is an internationally recognised qualification that certifies proficiency in the Greek language.  It is awarded by the Centre for the Greek Language in Thessaloniki, Greece, under the auspices of the Greek Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs.  The certificate corresponds to the levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, ranging from A1 (beginner) to C2 (mastery).  To earn the certificate, candidates must pass an exam that assesses:  Listening Comprehension, Reading Comprehension, Writing, Speaking.  We are pleased to announce that the following students have successfully passed the examination:

Melbourne Food and Culture Tour: A Feast for the Senses

In October, our Year 7–10 students explored Melbourne’s vibrant CBD on a food and culture tour that was equal parts delicious and inspiring.

The day began in Melbourne’s hidden alleys, iconic lanes, and historic arcades, where students admired vibrant street art and soaked in the city’s creative atmosphere. They also got a taste of Melbourne’s famous coffee culture, learning how it has become a cornerstone of the city’s identity.

Culinary highlights included Vietnamese rice paper rolls, Italian hot chocolate and cannoli, and authentic Chinese dumplings. Each dish told a story of Melbourne’s immigrant communities, connecting food to the city’s rich multicultural history.

Students embraced the experience with enthusiasm, stepping out of their comfort zones and discovering the beauty of diversity through food, art, and history.

A huge thank-you to our staff for organising this memorable excursion and to our families for their support. It was a day to remember!
