Young Tassie Scientists Visit

Grade 2, 3 and 4 students were excited to welcome the Young Tassie Scientists to our school for a block of science and discovery!

Annie, a marine biologist, taught us about BRUVS (Baited Remote Underwater Video Systems) and how scientists use them to observe marine life. Students viewed real underwater footage and joined in a fun sound game to explore how scientists investigate the ocean.

Cassidy, an astrophysicist, explored the science of light. We discovered how white light can be split into the colours of the rainbow and how those colours can be combined again to create white light. We tested this using spinning tops.

Zane, a neuroscientist, taught us about the brain and body, exploring how smoke can affect our bodies and the way they function.

It was a fantastic opportunity for our students to meet real scientists, ask questions and see how science is used to explore and understand the world around us. A big thank you to the Young Tassie Scientists for visiting us!
