Middle Years
Year 7 & 8
On Friday 13th March, our Year 7 students participated in a thought-provoking incursion; Verbal Combat, delivered by Brainstorm Productions. This performance is part of Brainstorm’s student wellbeing program, which focuses on building resilience, empathy, and positive social skills in young people.
The intention of Verbal Combat was to support students in navigating the challenges of communication, particularly around conflict, bullying, and the impact of words. Through relatable characters and real-life scenarios, the performance explored the importance of respectful relationships, assertive communication, and standing up for oneself and others in a safe and constructive way.
A key focus of the session was helping students recognise the power of language, both positive and negative and equipping them with practical strategies to respond to difficult situations. The interactive nature of the performance encouraged students to reflect on their own behaviours and consider how their choices can influence others.
The outcome was overwhelmingly positive. Students were highly engaged throughout the performance, with many contributing thoughtfully to post performance discussion. This opportunity supports the Middle School wellbeing focus, fostering meaningful classroom conversations and helping students develop a strong understanding of key messages, with the aim of applying these strategies in their everyday lives.
We thank Brainstorm Productions for delivering such a valuable and impactful experience for our students. We look forward to welcoming them back again next year.

Reminder we are a Gaming Free Zone not only during class time but also at RECESS and LUNCH. Can you believe it has been 12 months since we introduced this initiative!
It’s fantastic to see so many of you connecting with each other, helping to create a more engaging and inclusive environment during recess and lunchtime not only in Mason House but across the College.
We’re seeing more conversations, more laughter, and more creativity during breaks, exactly what this initiative is all about.
A few important reminders to keep things running smoothly:
H3 – Homework Hub
A quiet, focused space for students who want to catch up on schoolwork, study, reading or take a break from the noise. Please sign in via the sign in sheet outside H3 and speak with the teacher on duty. No inappropriate use of ICT in this space.

H6 & H7 – Game Collaboration Areas
These spaces are available for board games, card games, puzzles, colouring, and other group activities that encourage interaction in a relaxed setting. Please sign in and out any equipment you borrow. Ensure you treat the equipment respectfully and return it the way you found it. Please note: no laptop use in these rooms.

We are committed to making Mason House a space where everyone feels welcome and included, with something for everyone to enjoy.
If there are any games, activities, or resources you would like to see available, we would love to hear from you! Whether it’s a new game, a fun group activity, or a small idea to improve the space, your input matters.
