When a school has a strong sense of community, it becomes more than a place where lessons happen and students learn — it becomes a place where people feel they belong.

At Wantirna College, our sense of community is strong and this year, we encourage our community to be a part of our wonderful events and committees. Evidence clearly supports that the more connected our students and families are, the better our students' learning and wellbeing outcomes will be.

This very significant event will be an opportunity for our school community to be united as we remember the significant sacrifices of our service men and women.

Our Salford Park neighbours have also been invited to attend, and we hope to see as many families as possible on the day.

Parents of Performing Arts (PoPA) Committee

Another great way of supporting the school and meeting new people is to become a PoPA member. Our PoPA parents do incredible work supporting the performing arts program, attending events, fundraising and making a real difference. Their unwavering support and work behind the scenes, ensures our Performing Arts program thrives.

If you’d like to be involved please reach out to Nicholetta -  nri@wantirnacollege.vic.edu.au

iCan Challenge – 50k for 100K

Our iCan Challenge Team has been training hard with walkers pounding the pavements on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Last weekend our training walk was 27km – the longest walk many of our students have ever trekked!

Walking 50km to raise money for the Good Friday Appeal is a community event that is close to the hearts of so many families. Everyone has a story, or at least we all know a family who has a story. Unfortunately, having a sick child is the reality for many families and we are fortunate to have a world class hospital that everyone can access.

Our walk on the 1st April is our way of giving back to the community and making sure the Royal Children’s Hospital can continue to support our sick kids with state-of-the-art facilities. In 2009, my son was diagnosed with stage four cancer and the treatment he received at the RCH saved his life. Our walkers on the day will be supported by families at home, students and staff at school and a whole school community who all have their own stories of how the RCH have impacted their lives.

On Wednesday 1st April our walkers will be doing it tough pounding the pavement and we hope this will inspire sponsors to dig deep and donate to a great cause.  If you haven't got a family member or friend walking, you can still support this great cause by sponsoring any walker HERE.

We look forward to sharing our journey with the community – follow the Wantirna Colege Facebook page for updates!

Parent Forums

Every term, families are invited to meet with me to get updates about what we are doing and why, and, most importantly, to provide feedback about you and your child’s experience. Please save the date of our Term 2 Parent Forum: Tue 19th May 6pm, Staff Lounge

Open Night

Wed 25th March, 6:30pm

Our whole school is out in force on Wednesday evening to showcase the wonderful things that happen both inside and outside of the school. Every week I tell prospective families on my school tours that I love this school - but don’t take my word for it, come along and check it out for yourself by speaking with students and staff.

It’s a great way to feel connected, find a place to belong and discover your wings!
