Student Engagement - What Can Parent Do To Help?

Students and parents are now familiar with our engagement scale which describes learning engagement in 6 stages.

It can be difficult to know how to support students to move up the engagement scale and develop more discipline, improve resilience and develop better study habits. Our tips for parents sheets the compliments the engagement scale, is the perfect place to start. It provides basic advice with links to further evidence-based strategies for additional information. It is available to parents on Compass - Under the 'People' Icon - 'Student Conferences' folder.

I would also recommend that parents and students log into Maestro to view the most up to date Maestro Dashboards with details of learning progress, achievement and engagement.

ARC Conferences

Thanks to the parents’ students and mentors for making this year's ARCs our most attended so far at nearly 70% booking rates. Great conversations were had and thankyou to all those involed in organising the conferences and the preparation from students in producing and presenting their presentation.

Well-done on the students who showed the commitment to attend and engage in the sessions run throughout the day. Teachers put significant effort into developing the resources and activities for the 60+ students with aspirations to achieve study scores above 35. Students really benefited from the exposure to more challenging content and skills in small and large groups.

Learning Redemption Program

Many students’ requiring additional catchup support, and tutoring were referred to the first of our learning redemption days. Students received additional assistance from English, maths, humanities, science and health and PE teachers. Thanks to students who attended and for teachers who developed and ran mini workshops to build study skills and study discipline.
