Adventures from the Music Department

As we arrive at the end of Term 1, it’s clear this has been a truly outstanding start to the year for our Music Department.

Our Year 7 music students have made an exceptional impression, embracing new skills and repertoire with enthusiasm and focus as they prepare for their first concert next term. It’s been wonderful to see their confidence and musicianship grow so quickly.

Lunchtimes continue to be a hub of creativity and energy, with rock bands rehearsing, students refining their craft, and music echoing throughout the department. There is always something happening here! Truly, never a dull moment!

A highlight of the month was our International Women’s Day Open Mic, held on March 10 in the Canteen Courtyard. Beautifully organised by our Music Captain, Ruby Cripps, the event showcased a fantastic mix of emerging talent and experienced performers. The atmosphere was electric, with music bringing our school community together, uplifting spirits and getting everyone tapping, swaying, and singing along.

Our Open Night was another spectacular showcase of talent. Vocal students captivated audiences in the courtyard with powerful performances, while our Concert Band created a welcoming atmosphere at the front of the school. Ruby and her band delivered an energetic rock set, and the School Production cast lit up the Senior Centre with a dynamic display of singing and musicianship.

The evening was a resounding success and a testament to the dedication, teamwork, and passion of our music students, who even stayed back to assist staff with packing down at the end of the night.

We are incredibly proud of the commitment and spirit shown by all our students.

Congratulations to everyone on a fantastic term and we look forward to seeing you all in Term 2 for even more crazy, fun adventures. Stay tuned for more folks!
