Harmony Week | Cultural Diversity Week | Open Night
We were very busy organising events together as a team to make sure everything ran smoothly this term. We worked on Harmony Week, where the Year 9 students wrote supportive messages on a postcard and drew pictures of people coming together to embrace the idea of including others. The Year 7s did a jigsaw that reflected a sense of belonging when connected. The Year 8 students wrote on hexagons, each piece containing a sentence about their race, culture or religion. These activities signified harmony between everyone at our school, celebrating our differences and highlighting the diverse community that Cheltenham Secondary College embraces.
Cultural Diversity Week is coming up and the SRC group has been planning some activities. Some of these include a Free Dress Day and food trucks. The SRC team will also be making goods and organising musical performances from different cultures. Overall, we are all anxiously looking forward to the success of Cultural Diversity Week.
Open Night was a huge success. We welcomed lots of new students and their families to Cheltenham Secondary College, with a number of fun activities in each subject to show what we do at our school and what makes it so special. The production team put on a spectacular performance from ‘We Will Rock You’ and left the audience amazed by their talent.
The SRC team were posted around the school, leading group tours, answering questions any parents or possible students may have had, and ensuring that everyone had a great night at Cheltenham Secondary College.
