Year 10 Legal Excursion

Last week on Monday the Year 10 Legal studies class visited the Old Melbourne Magistrates court and watchhouse. We got to see and go inside some of the old jail cells where prisoners used to be held. The Sheriff that was showing us around the cells had a few made-up stories for some of the students on why they had been sent to jail and she was making a lot of jokes with us which was fun. After the cells we went to the court and had a story we all had to play a roll in. The court was a very interactive activity.

After the court we went to the prison cells where the prisoners would go if they were guilty and sentenced. Some of those cells were assumed to be haunted and there was even the hanger that they used for death sentencing. All around it was a pretty cool experience.
