SKI CAMP

YEAR 10 SKI CAMP

DAY 1

Yesterday morning, bright and very early, some of our Year 10’s (who were joined by some Year 10’s from Mirboo North SC) made their way to the Outdoor School Bogong for a fun-filled week of SNOW. A BIG THANK YOU to Harleys Buslines of Korumburra for getting us there safe and sound.

After settling in, meeting their team leaders and enjoying a delicious roast chicken dinner, our students got fitted out for an expected HUGE day of adventure and cross-country skiing on Tuesday.  Wishing them some bluebird days!

DAY 2

Falls Creek Cross Country Skiing

Students today hit the snow-covered slopes in perfect conditions. Students learnt the finer points of cross-country skiing, giving it a red-hot go!

There may have been a snowball fight or two (going by the photos), and snowman construction. Just a bit of fun!

Tomorrow students will be hitting the downhill slopes for some heart racing skiing. Wishing them another picture-perfect day to enjoy the snow, snow, snow!

DAY 3

With a clear sky this morning for Day One of downhill skiing.

To start the day, students participated in a 2-hour lesson with the Falls Creek Ski School Staff to learn some new skills and to work on their talent on the downhill slopes.

All students progressed in leaps and bounds throughout the day, transitioning from green runs up to blue runs.

After an early evening friendly volleyball match, our students have listened to an educational talk on the effects of climate change on Alpine Environments, and then off for an early night to rest some muscles and impress on the slopes again tomorrow.

DAY 4

Downhill skiing Day 2 today. Students stepped up to tackle more challenging terrain and test their ability now they have a bit more experience under their belts. All students have shown great determination, tenacity, and resilience throughout the week, with the Snow Gods sending us lots of snow today we powered on. They have been brilliant!

After a short debrief and reflection session our students settled into a toasty warm cinema room and watched Eddie the Eagle (very fitting).

BUT, our ski camp has sadly come to an end and the group is aiming to be back at KSC at approximately 6pm this evening.
