Principal's Report

We, at Miners Rest Primary School, would like to acknowledge the Wadawurrung people of the Kulin Nation.
We pay our respects and thank the Wadawurrung people. May we share your land. We promise to look after it, as well as the animals and people too.
It’s just over halfway through Term One, and there are plenty of exciting events happening across our school community! Please take a moment to celebrate and acknowledge your child and their classroom teacher for the incredible beginning to the school year. Within the classroom and yard and beyond our school gates, our school values are clearly on display. Learning environments are calm and settled, with students demonstrating strong engagement and commitment to their learning goals.
Some Weekly Highlights
Bulldog Read at the Ballarat Library
Congratulations to our students on the outstanding way they represented our school at our first Bulldog Read event. Their behaviour and the high level of school values on display made us incredibly proud.
ConnectEd Program Launch
Our ConnectEd Program launched today, providing a wonderful opportunity for families to gain valuable insight into how we approach learning at MRK–6. Thank you to Ryan and Ellie for leading the program, and to all participants for taking the opportunity to be involved.
House Meetings and Lunch
Our House Captains are looking forward to leading their House Meeting this Thursday as students build their excitement towards our Athletics Day on Friday 27th March.
Parents and Friends Association
Our Parents and Friends Association held their first meeting of 2026 last week and are excited to begin planning fundraising opportunities for our school community. Thank you to Allira for her organisation and commitment to PFA.
Curriculum Day – Student Free Day (This Friday 6th March)
This Friday is a student-free day. Staff will continue to strengthen our understanding and refine our implementation of Inclusive Practices across the school, from Kindergarten to Year 6, including our OSHC team. A key focus of the day will be a professional learning session on Interoception, delivered by OT Dynamics, along with a session exploring the Department’s Positive Classroom Management strategies.
Special Visitor Onsite
It was wonderful to welcome Kylie Nissen onsite on Tuesday this week, spending valuable time with both students and staff. We look forward to welcoming Kylie back from leave in a part-time capacity. Kylie will be working with students and staff on Tuesdays and Wednesdays in Weeks 6 and 7.
Thank you to everyone for your continued support as we head into the second half of Term One.
