Year Three/Four News

Over the last couple of weeks, the Year 3/4 students have been refining their understanding of how to complete a successful reading response during independent reading time, by identifying an original thought and aligning it to a quote from the text they are currently reading. This week, classes have been introduced to the class text ‘Bindi’ that will be a focus for the remainder of the term.
Writing sessions have moved on from narratives to beginning to investigate how to utilise effective research skills to create an information report. Skimming and scanning skills have also been developed to identify key concepts during the research phase.
In Numeracy, we completed our work on locations and using maps. This week we have moved onto balancing equations and finding number patterns.
Our Geography studies during Humanities has been enthusiastically embraced by all students, all in readiness for our excursion on Thursday 12th March to the Ballarat Wildlife Park.
