A winter night to remember
Set against the backdrop of a mild August night, our inaugural Mini Winter Festival lit up the College grounds last Friday with glowing neon lights, live music, hearty food, steaming drinks and entertainment around every corner.
The warm and festive atmosphere provided the perfect opportunity for our wider SMC community to come together and connect, and there was something for everyone to enjoy – light projections, dance flash mobs, performances by our Year 3/4 and Year 5 choirs, the Senior School Band, dramatic monologues and interactive roving acts, short films, immersive soundscapes and two high-energy discos for our Junior School students.
Adding to the magic, 800 hand-painted lanterns, created by every Junior School class, cast a soft glow, lining pathways, hanging in windows and adorning trees.
Thank you to our SMC community
An enormous ‘thank you’ must go to our amazing vendors, Syra, Harrington Local, Drifters End Distilling Company and Murphy's Cafe, for their energy, support and delectable food and refreshments. Based on the feedback we received, your dishes went down a treat!
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us in celebration, and to all who contributed to making the evening such a memorable success! We are especially grateful to the students, staff, parents/carers and friends who generously volunteered their time and energy, from setting up and serving, to welcoming guests and packing down.
Special thanks to our Maintenance and ICT departments for ensuring everything ran smoothly, to the Performing Arts department for curating a stellar lineup of entertainment, to our alumni for hosting another fantastic barbecue, and to the team at Murphy's Café for their behind-the-scenes support.
We truly appreciate your involvement and generosity – it made all the difference. Events like these truly showcase the spirit of hospitality and belonging that define our College community.
