From the Director of Junior School

Mrs Melissa Thirgood

Dear Junior School Families,

I can hardly believe we are already in Week 4 – what a busy and exciting start to the term it has been!

We began Term 3 by celebrating NAIDOC Week, during which our First Nations students reflected on our College's connections to Elders past and present. It was an opportunity to reflect, learn about and honour the rich culture and history of our First Nations peoples.

Last week, we commemorated Catholic Education Week. A group of our Junior and Senior students, accompanied by me, Mrs Margaret Rootes and Mr Damian Messer, joined others from across our diocese to attend Mass in the Cathedral. This was a wonderful occasion to come together as a community of faith and learning.

This week, we turn our attention to Science Week – an annual celebration designed to spark curiosity, inspire innovation and highlight the vital contributions of science to our world. Throughout the week, Junior School students will take part in a variety of hands-on activities, including interactive experiments led by our Year 6 students for Kinder to Year 5 classes. We are excited to witness the wonderings, discoveries and deep thinking that will emerge from this week of inquiry and exploration.
