Winter training
Many of our rowers have been enthusiastically maintaining their strength and fitness in the gym over the winter months. However, there's even more excitement about getting back on the water! I’m planning to start on-water sessions from Sunday 24 August. Please keep an eye on your emails and Connect for more details soon.
Hoodies
I’ve contacted the hoodie supplier with all the questions and feedback from the recent survey and am currently awaiting a response. I’ve requested that our order be completed by the end of this term or very early in Term 4, so the students can get good wear out of them.
Parent volunteers
Before we return to the water, all parent volunteers must complete the online Child Safety briefing and upload an image of their WWVP Card. I’ll be asking for volunteers via the form to start on-water training. We’ll also need parent volunteers to assist coaches as age managers. If you're interested, please let me know.
Year 6 'Try Rowing' Day
The SMC Year 6 Try Rowing Day is scheduled for Friday 12 September. I’ll need parent volunteers to help with safety boat driving and to assist with the BBQ lunch. Please mark this date in your calendar – many hands make light work!
Calendar
Rowing Tasmania has released the 2025/2026 season calendar. St Virgil's College and I are currently finalising which regattas we’ll be attending. I hope to share our season calendar with you very soon.
Registering for the 2025/2026 season
Registrations will open shortly and must be completed through the College’s sports sign-up platform, Clipboard. An upfront registration fee will be required, which will be deducted from the overall season fee. Please keep an eye out for this. Only parents can register their children, as payment is required at the time of sign-up. I’ll send a reminder email once registrations are open.
