Literacy 

During Phonics, we have been learning learning about ck, th, wh, ll, ff, ss and zz. Students have been exploring the rules that go with the different spelling patterns and we can see brillaint improvements with the students writing and spelling ability. 

During Literacy, we have been learning about narratives. Students have been focusing on identify the message or the purpose of the story, along with inferring feelings and actions. We have been practising including this into our own writing. The students narratives have come a long way. It is awesome to see! 

A couple of weeks ago we had our Spelling Bee. We were so proud of all the students who gave our Spelling Bee a great go! Students were told a word, and then asked to say the letter names to spell the word. Students did a brilliant job and there was lots of encouragement as we progressed through to longer and trickier words. Congratulations to our winner Arthur and runner up Tommy. 

Numeracy 

In Maths, we have been learning about subtraction. Students have using different resources to show how they have a whole and then they take away an amount to find the answer. We introduced Linus the Minus to help support students to understand what the symbols mean and how to use them. 

Humanities 

In Humanties, we have been working our way through our Bridge and Beyond unit. Students are exploring how different materials work and the different properities they have. We enjoyed making playdough with the students. They did an awesome job of working as part of a team, following a recipe and being resilient when it was tough to mix together to make the playdough smooth. 

Reminders 

Friday is book day! Please continue to bring in library books and decodables so these can be changed regularly.
