The Arts

It's been a busy time in The Arts these past three weeks. Students have been working on a range of activities and projects, demonstrating their artistic capabilities.

Prep

In Drama, the students have been learning how to collaborate with a partner to plan and rehearse a performance using a given prompt, such as pretending to be riding bikes, eating at a restaurant or running in a marathon. In Visual Arts, students have continued to make a range of different puppets, such as finger puppets and marionettes.

In Drama, the students have been performing different types of stories being read out by the teacher and having to improvise how they would react in that situation, such as entering a pet in a dog show or herding cattle on the farm. In Visual Arts, they have continued to create art based on themselves, such as creating a scene of their favourite holiday destination or what their neighbourhood looks like.

In Media Arts, students have finished planning their movies and have started to film. During these two sessions, they had to follow along with their storyboard design to film each unique shot that tells a complete and coherent story. In Visual Arts, they have been continuing to learn about the elements of art and use them in effective ways, such as changing the value of colours to create a spooky night sky or using the space of their art to create depth.

During these two sessions, they had to follow along with their storyboard design to film each unique shot that tells a complete and coherent story. In Visual Arts, they have created different types of op art based on the work of Bridget Riley, creating black and white illusions that play tricks on the audience's eyes.
