We might be a secondary library but we are young at heart enough to celebrate A.A. Milne’s most famous teddy bear, Winnie the Pooh’s 100th Birthday. The adventures of the bear and his friends in the enchanted Hundred Acre Wood have inspired countless writers over the past 100 years. A.A. Milne’s  When We Were Very Young and Now We Are Six were best sellers and translated into more than 80 languages with sales to date estimated to be 100 million copies.

It is worth noting  that Milne did not lecture children instead he focused on their emotional lives by transforming his son Christpher Robin’s stuffed animals into distinct characters. A.A. Milne helped pave the way for modern children’s literature and philosophical fiction.
