From the Principal

Dear families,

The term has been off to busy start, and we are excited for the many exciting events that are planned for this term.

Last Friday, we were delighted to welcome Mayor Cr Dr Simone Zmood and Deputy Mayor Cr Li Zhang to Ormond Primary School. During their visit, they spent time touring our school, meeting students and seeing firsthand the wonderful learning and community that makes OPS such a special place. The Mayor also enjoyed meeting with some of our Year 3/4 students and Student Representative Council (SRC) members – Jaishna K, Anvi C, Rocio R and Ashar A.

Following her visit, Mayor Cr Dr Simone Zmood shared these kind words:

"What an amazing group of students and a credit to your school! 

Thank you again for the invitation."

We are incredibly proud of the way our students represented themselves and our school, and we thank the Mayor and Deputy Mayor for taking the time to visit our community.

Year 6 Camp

A huge thank you to the wonderful staff and volunteers who attended our Year 6 Camp last week – Emily, Delia, Sharelle, Sam Allen and Yvette.

Our students had an incredible experience, embracing every challenge with enthusiasm, resilience and teamwork. We were especially proud to receive glowing feedback from the camp staff, who described our students as the best Year 6 group they have ever hosted.

Year 6–7 Placement Acceptance Forms

Thank you to all families who have already returned their Year 7 Placement Acceptance Forms. We have received almost all forms, with just a small number still outstanding.

If you have not yet returned your child's acceptance slip, please do so as soon as possible by handing it to your child's classroom teacher or the front office. All forms must be returned no later than Tuesday 11 August.

Thank you for your prompt attention to this important process.

Foundation Enrolments

Foundation enrolments have now closed. If your family is still intending to enrol a sibling for Foundation in 2027, please complete the enrolment as soon as possible.

All Foundation enrolments are now completed online through Student Insight. Please refer to the guidelines below for further information.

Athletics Carnival

A big thank you to Mr Keng for his planning and organisation of our Athletics Carnival held at Duncan McKinnon Reserve on Tuesday 21 July.

Although the weather threatened to dampen the day, fortunately the rain stayed away and students enjoyed a fantastic day of participation, teamwork and house spirit. It was wonderful to see so many students encouraging one another and giving their best in every event.

National Tree Day

On Friday 24 July, a group of OPS students proudly represented our school at Allnutt Park as part of National Tree Day.

Students enjoyed contributing to the local environment by helping plant native vegetation while learning about the importance of caring for our natural spaces and supporting local biodiversity.

Community Storytime

Last Thursday we once again welcomed local families to our Community Storytime in the school library.

It was another wonderful afternoon filled with stories and hands-on activities. Community Storytime provides a fantastic opportunity for preschool-aged children and their families to experience our welcoming school community while fostering a love of books and learning.

We would love to see more local families join us at one of our upcoming sessions. Please see the flyer below for future dates and feel free to share this opportunity with friends, neighbours or families who may be interested.
