HONOURS AND AWARDS

Over the years, many of our Thistlelonians have been recognised through national honours, including the Officer of the Order of Australia (AO), Member of the Order of Australia (AM), Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) and the Public Service Medal (PSM).
These awards highlight the remarkable contributions our alumni have made to their communities and professions, reflecting the values of Wisdom & Service instilled at McKinnon.

This year, we are proud to acknowledge two Thistlelonians who received the Medal of the Order of Australia in the 2025 King’s Birthday Honours:
EMERITUS PROFESSOR JOHN ROSENBERG (CLASS OF 1971)
We are proud to share that Professor John Rosenberg (Class of 1971) has been awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in the 2025 King’s Birthday Honours. John received this honour for his service to tertiary education and the Jewish community.
John's father, Mr Alex Rosenberg, was a maths teacher at McKinnon in the 70's.

PETER MARSHALL (CLASS OF 1975)
Congratulations to Peter Marshall (Class of 1975) on receiving the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for service to Australian Rules football.
Peter has umpired over 1,500 games and has made a significant contribution to the sport through coaching, mentoring, and umpire development across multiple leagues.This honour reflects his long-standing commitment to the football community.
