MEMORABILIA

Thistlelonians maintains an historical display in the MERC area of the main campus. Ex-students and staff have donated a variety of items dating from 1953, including photos, uniforms, badges, cadet memorabilia.
The display is changed throughout the year and is enjoyed by current students and visitors.
MEMORABILIA
We are looking for photos of the school from the 1950s to the present time. Photos of the original buildings, assembly hall, students in uniform, teachers, etc.
At the moment we have enough uniforms, both girls’ and boys’, summer and winter, as well as sports uniforms over the years.
Any special items, such as the prefects’ spoons of the mid-1960s would be appreciated.
Please phone Melanie Lynch on (03) 8520 9092 or email thistle@mckinnonsc.vic.edu.au to arrange delivery.

FROM SEEING EYE TO THERAPY PAWS: DOGS AT MCKINNON
In the previous artcle, Social Services at McKinnon, we talked about raising funds for our Seeing Eye Dog.
A total of 300 pounds was raised for our Seeing Eye Dog, Les McKinnon, named after Les Bowe, the Principal at the time. As this amount was exceeded, a second dog, Margot, named after the chemistry mistress, Margot Green, was sponsored. Both dogs later visited the school with their handlers.
Here are the newspaper articles:
We currently have regular visits from Miracle Paws therapy dogs, giving students the chance to pat and enjoy the comfort of these amazing animals. It’s great to see that dogs have been a cherished part of McKinnon life, both in the past and today.
